In early 1901, four women from the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word began developing a healthcare facility to serve the Texas Panhandle, St. Anthony's Hospital. Approximately 115 years later, and after a 1996 merger with High Plains Baptist Hospital in Amarillo, BSA Hospital is now a 448-bed facility and the fourth largest employer in Amarillo. Truven Health Analytics named one of its 100 Top Hospitals in 2013. Black River Memorial Hospital (Black River Falls, Wis.). The 25-bed Black River Memorial Hospital has more than 300 employees, includ- ing contracted workers in anesthesia, pathology and nutrition. The hospital was named a Top 100 Critical Access Hospital in 2014 by iVantage Health Analytics and a Top Performer in Wiscon- sin in Pneumonia and Surgical Care Performance Measures in 2013 by The Joint Commission. It also received a 2013 Studer Group Excellence in Patient Care Award, among other accolades. Bozeman (Mont.) Deaconess Hospital. Bozeman Deaconess Hospital is an 86-bed, Level III trau- ma center in the heart of the Rocky Mountains in southwest Montana. The hospital was recog- nized by Truven Health Analytics as one of the 100 Top Hospitals in 2014, and it was also named a Healthstrong Top Hospital by iVantage Health Analytics this year. Additionally, Healthgrades honored Bozeman Deaconess Hospital with its Pulmonary Care Excellence Award for 2014. Brodstone Memorial Hospital (Superior, Neb.). Brodstone Memorial Hospital is a 49-bed facility. The hospital has undergone a number of reno- vations and improvements in the past 10 years, including an $8.2 million project that added a new clinic and MRI/CAT scan suite in 2010. Ad- ditionally, the hospital is the first in Kansas and Nebraska to offer 3-D digital mammography. It was named one of the Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals in the nation by iVantage Health Ana- lytics in 2014. Calumet Medical Center (Chilton, Wis.). Calu- met Medical Center is part of Menasha, Wis.- based Affinity Health. It is the only hospital in Calumet County and serves the surrounding ar- eas, including Fond du Lac, Manitowoc and She- boygan counties. The 25-bed hospital was named to iVantage Health Analytics' list of Top 100 Criti- cal Access Hospitals in 2014. Cape Cod Hospital (Hyannis, Mass.). Cape Cod Hospital has one of the busiest emergency cen- ters in Massachusetts. The 259-bed hospital sits on a 38-acre waterfront campus, which includes the Cape Psych Center, a breast care center and a community health center. The hospital was named a Healthstrong Top 100 Hospital by iVan- tage Health Analytics this year, and Cape Cod Healthcare, the hospital's parent company, was named among the 15 Top Health Systems in 2013 by Truven Health Analytics. Carolinas Medical Center–Northeast (Concord, N.C.). Carolinas Medical Center–Northeast is a 457-bed, nonprofit medical center that dates back to the mid-1930s. Today the hospital includes more than 4,200 employees and a range of servic- es, including those at its Batte Cancer Center and 24-hour chest pain center. This year, Carolinas Medical Center–Northeast was named a Health- strong Hospital by iVantage Health Analytics. CaroMont Regional Medical Center (Gastonia, N.C.). CaroMont Regional Medical Center, for- merly Gaston Memorial Hospital, was established in 1946. It is the flagship facility of Gastonia- based CaroMont Health. The 435-bed medi- cal center specifically was named a Top 20 Most Beautiful Hospital in the U.S. in 2013 by Soliant Health. CareChex ranked the hospital in the top 25 in the nation for medical care this year. Central DuPage Hospital (Winfield, Ill.). Cen- tral DuPage Hospital opened in 1964 with 113 beds and 666 physicians. Today, the organization has grown as a 313-bed full-service hospital with more than 900 physicians. It has been named a 100 Top Hospital by Truven Health Analytics in the past seven out of eight years. In 2013, the hos- pital ranked 22nd in the nation for orthopedic care and was recognized for 11 high-performing specialties by U.S. News & World Report. Cheshire Medical Center/Dartmouth Hitch- cock Keene (N.H.). This facility is home to a joint partnership between a community medical center and a multispecialty physician practice associated with Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in New Lebanon, N.H. The 169-bed medical center offers primary and specialty care physician servic- es, state-of-the-art diagnostic tools and programs to improve the overall health of the community. CMC/DHK initiated Health Monadnock 2020, a community-wide initiative to actively engage the citizens of Cheshire County to become the healthiest community in the country by 2020. Cheyenne (Wyo.) Regional Medical Center. Cheyenne Regional Medical Center dates back to 1867, when it was established as a tent hospi- tal constructed by the Union Pacific Railroad to treat workers injured while building the transcon- tinental railroad. Today, the 222-bed hospital in- cludes a medical staff of more than 170 clinicians and upwards of 2,000 employees. The hospital is home to the state's first Level II trauma center and comprehensive weight loss surgery program. Columbus (Ind.) Regional Hospital. The 225-bed hospital is the flagship facility of Columbus Re- gional Health, a health system serving 10 counties in southeast Indiana. Columbus Regional Hospital physicians represent more than 45 specialties. U.S. News & World Report ranked the hospital No. 7 in Indiana for 2013-2014, and iVantage Health Ana- lytics named it a Healthstrong Hospital this year. Cookeville (Tenn.) Regional Medical Center. Cookeville Regional Medical Center opened its doors as a 15-bed private clinic in 1921 and was bought by the city in 1927. Now, the 247-bed hospi- tal employs more than 2,000 and includes 150 pro- viders on its medical staff. A 2014 iVantage Health Analytics Healthstrong Hospital, CRMC received Healthgrades awards for excellence in several spe- cialties this year, including orthopedic surgery, pul- monary care, spine surgery and cardiac care. Down East Community Hospital (Machias, Maine). Though it only has 25 beds, Down East Community Hospital offers a variety of specialty services, including otolaryngology, urology, a sleep lab, laser kidney stone removal and mini- mally invasive laparoscopic surgical procedures. The hospital was one of the first in Maine to ob- tain a digital mammography unit. In 2013, The Leapfrog Group recognized Down East Commu- nity Hospital as one of its 2013 Top Hospitals for quality of care. Dublin (Ohio) Methodist Hospital. Dublin Methodist Hospital only opened its doors in 2008, but it has demonstrated continual growth since. The hospital offers 59 specialties and subspe- cialties, and it has started construction on seven post-partum rooms and an expansion of its Level II special care nursery. Dublin Methodist was one of four Columbus-based OhioHealth hospitals to have been named among the 100 Top Hospitals by Truven Health Analytics in 2014. East Alabama Medical Center (Opelika, Ala.). East Alabama Medical Center grew from an 81- bed hospital in 1950 to today's 334-bed hospital. It was named a Healthstrong Top Hospital in 2014 by iVantage Health Analytics as well as a Top Per- former in Premier healthcare alliance's QUEST: High Performing Hospitals collaborative for the second year in a row. In fiscal year 2013, EAMC had 294 volunteers, 2,700 employees and saw 13,595 inpatient visits. Elmhurst (Ill.) Memorial Healthcare. Formerly known as Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, the 286- bed Elmhurst Memorial Healthcare dates back to 1926. The hospital, based about 20 miles west of Chicago, merged with Naperville, Ill.-based Ed- ward Hospital & Health Services in 2013, leaving it with ties to more than 1,680 employed physi- cians. Elmhurst Memorial was graded as an "A" hospital for patient safety by The Leapfrog Group in 2014, and it has also been named a Most Wired hospital by the American Hospital Association. Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center (Danville, Ky.). With 222 beds, the hospital of- fers a range of services, such as behavioral health, pediatric therapy, orthopedics, cancer care and a wound healing center. The Joint Commission named Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center one of the nation's Top Performers on Key Quality Measures in 2013 for the second year in a row. In 2014, the hospital's emergency depart- ment was recognized as one of the Best Hospi- tals for Patient Experience in Emergency Care by Women's Choice Award. Eau Claire (Wis.) Hospital. Part of the Roches- ter, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic Health System, Eau Claire Hospital has 304 beds with more than 200 physicians representing almost every specialty, making it one of the largest multispecialty groups in Wisconsin. The hospital is nationally ranked for urology and was ranked the No. 4 in Wisconsin in the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings.
