This 193-bed Catholic hospi- tal first opened in 1885 and moved to a larger facility in 1975. In 2013, the hospital received the NOVA Award from the American Hospital Association, which honors effective, collaborative programs that are focused on improv- ing community health status. St. Joseph's earned the award for the Chippewa Health Improvement Partnership, through which the hospital partners with local organizations to boost community health. St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center (Syracuse, N.Y.). St. Joseph's is a 431- bed hospital in upstate New York sponsored by the Sisters of St. Francis. In 2013, the American Hospital Association awarded St. Joseph's the Carolyn Boone Lewis Living the Vision award for its work to improve the health of the community. The hospital received the award for its neighborhood revital- ization strategy that includes developing green, affordable housing, a home ownership initiative and job training program. St. Joseph's Hospital-Breese (Ill.). Located about 40 miles outside St. Louis, St. Joseph's Hospital-Breese is one of Truven Health Analytics' 100 Top Hos- pitals for 2014. Of those 100 hospitals, the Breese facility was further selected to receive Truven's Everest Award, which honors the top 14 hospitals nation- wide that achieve the highest current performance and the fastest long-term improvement over five years. St. Joseph's Hospital-Breese also earned a spot in the top 100 in the nation for patient satisfaction according to CareChex. Sutter Davis (Calif.) Hospital. This 48-bed hospital put itself on the national map last year when it received the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, the highest award given annually by the White House for innovation, lead- ership and quality. Sutter Davis, located 18 miles west of Sacramento, also landed on Truven Health Analytics' 100 Top Hospitals list in 2014. Tanner Medical Center/Villa Rica (Ga.). The 40-bed Tanner Medical Center/ Villa Rica opened in October 2003. Tanner Medical Center/Villa Rica earned an Everest Award from Truven Health Analytics this year, which is reserved for hospitals that achieved the highest current performance and the fastest long-term improvement over five years. The Outer Banks Hospital (Nags Head, N.C.). The Outer Banks Hospital, a partnership between Greenville, N.C.-based Vidant Health and Chesapeake (Va.) Regional Medical Center, is one of the newest hospitals in eastern North Carolina, as it opened in March 2002. The 21-bed hospital serves a commu- nity of roughly 35,000 that grows to about 250,000 in the summer as tourism picks up. iVantage Health Analytics named The Outer Banks Hospital as one of the Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals in the nation in 2014, and it is also ranked highly for patient satisfaction by CareChex. Tomah (Wis.) Memorial Hospital. Tomah Memorial Hospital has been committed to providing compassionate care to its community since 1952. The 57-bed hospital was named one of the Top 100 Critical Access Hospi- tals in the nation by iVantage Health Analytics this year, and it is nationally ranked for patient satisfaction by CareChex. Union Hospital (Dover, Ohio). Union Hospital, located about 45 miles south of Akron, Ohio, was founded in 1906 and has 154 inpatient beds. It became a Certified Primary Stroke Center in 2014. The hospital earned a spot on Truven Health Analytics' 100 Top Hospitals list this year, and Healthgrades awarded it the Patient Safety Excellence Award and Women's Health Excellence Award in 2013. Upland Hills Health (Dodgeville, Wis.). Upland Hills Health was formed in 1974 from a merger of St. Joseph's Hospital and Dodgeville General Hospital, two hospitals in Dodgeville, which is about 45 miles outside of Madison, Wis. The 22-bed hospital was named one of the Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals in the nation by iVantage Health Analytics this year, and CareChex ranks it in the top 150 for patient satisfaction. Waldo County General Hospital (Belfast, Maine). Waldo County General, part of Portland-based MaineHealth, is celebrating its 110th birthday this year after opening in 1904. The critical access hospital, located about 35 miles south of Bangor, was named one of the Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals in the nation in 2014 by iVantage Health Analytics . Waukesha (Wis.) Memorial Hospital. Waukesha Memorial Hospital, located outside of Milwaukee, was established in 1914. One hundred years later, the 301-bed hospital was named one of iVantage Health Analytics' Healthstrong Top Hospitals for delivering high-quality care at lower costs. The hospital, which has more than 2,700 employees, displays works of more than 150 local artists on its walls and in its outdoor areas to represent its community. Whitman Hospital and Medical Center (Colfax, Wash.). Whitman Hospital and Medical Center opened in 1893 with the support of the Sisters of Charity. Now, the 25-bed critical access hospital has more than 200 employees and 47 physicians on staff. It was named one of the top 20 critical access hospitals in the nation by iVantage Health Analytics this year. Woodwinds Health Campus (Woodbury, Minn.). Woodwinds Health Campus opened in August 2000 as a collaboration between HealthEast Care System in St. Paul, Minn., and Minneapolis-based Children's Hospital and Clinics of Minnesota. The 86-bed hospital was named one of Truven Health Analytics' 100 Top Hospitals in 2013 and 2014. Wooster (Ohio) Community Hospital. Wooster Community Hospital, lo- cated about 50 miles outside of Cleveland, is one of the lowest-cost hospitals in the state. This year, iVantage Health Analytics named Wooster Community Hospital as a Healthstrong Hospital because it provides high quality care at low costs. Last year, it earned a Women's Choice Award in the category of America's Best Hospitals for Patient Experience. Wyoming Medical Center (Casper, Wyo.). A nonprofit hospital in the center of its state, Wyoming Medical Center has 191 patient beds and 150 physicians on staff. In fiscal year 2012, the hospital provided more than $24 million in financial assistance and other community benefits. In 2013, it received the Gold Plus Award for stroke care from the American Heart Association as well as the Vascular Surgery Excellence Award from Healthgrades. n
