74 Gastroenterology Horizon BlueCross BlueShield of New Jersey Launches Program to Improve Colonoscopy By Carrie Pallardy H orizon BlueCross BlueShield of New Jersey has launched a new program designed to improve colonoscopy patient out- comes, patient experience and lower costs through coordina- tion of care, according to an NJBIZ report. Horizon BCBS partnered with 31 of its network physicians in more than 20 locations. The physicians will coordinate with outpatient sites of service, anesthesiologists and all colonoscopy-related caregivers to work toward improvement. n Hospital Employment to Private Practice: 70% of Physicians Happier After the Switch By Laura Miller A new report from Medscape shows 70 percent of physicians who went from employed to self-employed situations were happier after the switch. Around 52 percent of the respondents said they've switched from em- ployed to self-employed situations, compared to 29 percent who went from private practice owners to hospital employment over the last year. Among the self-employed physicians, 65 percent reported satisfaction with their current practice situation. Only around 9 percent of the physicians who switched from employ- ment to private practice say they are unhappier now, compared with 25 percent of physicians who switched from private practice to hospital employment. n In 1979 the Steelers won the Super Bowl.
