Jefferson Health System, based in Radnor, Pa., de-
cided to restructure, which will result in its three main
entities splitting and managing their own finances.
LifePoint Healthcare in Brentwood, Tenn., and
Wilson (N.C.) Medical Center finalized their joint
venture.
The State University of New York issued a new re-
quest for proposals for Long Island College Hos-
pital, its troubled hospital based in Brooklyn.
Less than one month after shutting its doors, Low-
er Oconee Community Hospital in Glenwood,
Ga., reopened.
Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan,
Kan., is now a full member hospital of Wichita,
Kan.-based Via Christi Health.
Northwestern Memorial HealthCare in Chicago
and Cadence Health in Winfield, Ill., signed a let-
ter of intent to merge, marking Cadence's second
attempt to attract a partner.
Boston-based Partners HealthCare System agreed
to delay the closing of its proposed acquisition of
South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, Mass., to al-
low for the extension of negotiations with the state
attorney general's office.
The Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review
Board unanimously approved a proposed affilia-
tion between Passavant Area Hospital in Jackson-
ville, Ill., and Memorial Health System, based in
Springfield, Ill.
Chicago-based Presence Health decided to sell
Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center.
Providence Health & Services, based in Rent-
on, Wash., now owns and operates Saint John's
Health Center in Santa Monica, Calif.
Rochester (N.Y.) General Health System and
United Memorial Medical Center in Batvia, N.Y.,
confirmed their intent to affiliate.
Saint Anthony's Health System in Alton, Ill.,
signed a letter of intent to become an affiliate of
Peoria, Ill.-based OSF Healthcare System.
For-profit hospital chain Tenet Healthcare Corp.
created a strategic alliance with Yale New Haven
(Conn.) Health System in a bid to gain scale in the
greater Northeast.
Brentwood, Tenn.-based TriStar Health — a divi-
sion of Nashville, Tenn.-based Hospital Corpora-
tion of America — completed its acquisition of
Grandview Medical Center in Jasper, Tenn.
The University of Virginia Medical Center in
Charlottesville and Culpeper (Va.) Regional Health
System agreed to terms that would make UVA the
majority owner of Culpeper Regional Hospital.
Wild Rose (Wis.) Community Memorial Hospi-
tal and Appleton, Wis.-based ThedaCare signed a
letter of intent to affiliate.
Yampa Valley Medical Center in Steamboat Springs,
Colo., joined the Mayo Clinic Care Network.
