Russell Harrington Jr., president and CEO of Little Rock, Ark.-based Baptist Health, plans to retire on July 1. Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus, Okla., appointed Steve Hartgraves president and CEO. El Camino Hospital in Mountain View, Calif., se- lected Iftikhar Hussain as CFO. Houston-based Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital named Gary Kerr CEO. Robert Laskowski, MD, president and CEO of Wilmington, Del.-based Christiana Care Health Sys- tem, announced plans to retire at the end of the year. Richmond University Medical Center in Staten Island, N.Y., selected Daniel Messina, PhD, as president and CEO. Indianapolis-based Indiana University Health named Camie Patterson COO of its Starke cam- pus in Knox, Ind., and its LaPorte (Ind.) campus. The Children's Hospital of New Orleans named Mary Perrin CEO. Ora Pescovitz, MD, CEO of Ann Arbor-based Uni- versity of Michigan Health System and executive vice president of medical affairs of the university, announced plans to step down from her positions. Toledo, Ohio-based Mercy Health System restruc- tured its leadership organization, eliminating the job of CEO Andrea Price. Pamela Rezak, CEO of Avera Sacred Heart Hos- pital in Yankton, S.D., announced plans to retire. Rapid City, S.D.-based Regional Health Network selected Kyle Richards as COO. William Robertson, president and CEO of Gaith- ersburg, Md.-based Adventist HealthCare, left the organization to lead Tacoma, Wash.-based Multi- Care Health System. Rome (N.Y.) Memorial Hospital appointed Dew- ey Rowlands CFO. Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston- Salem, N.C., named C. Michael Rutherford as its new CFO. Kathleen Sellick, president and CEO of Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego, announced plans to retire due to medical reasons. Bev Weaver, COO of Louisville-based Kentuck- yOne Health, will step down from her position. Medical Center of Trinity in New Port Richey, Fla., selected Kenneth West as COO. Joseph Wilczek, CEO of Tacoma, Wash.-based Franciscan Health System and senior vice president for divisional operations of Denver-based Catholic Health Initiatives, announced plans to retire. Hospital & Health System Executive Moves The Pasquotank County board and the board of Albemarle Hospital in Eliz- abeth City, N.C., approved a long-term lease agreement between Albemarle and Norfolk, Va.-based Sentara Healthcare. Angleton (Texas) Danbury Medical Center and the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston signed a letter of intent to explore a possible long-term, formal relationship. Community Health Systems signed a definitive agreement to enter into a long-term lease of Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala, Fla. Cooper County Memorial Hospital in Boonville, Mo., signed a manage- ment agreement with Kansas City, Mo.-based Rural Community Hospitals of America. Brentwood, Tenn.-based Duke LifePoint Healthcare signed a letter of intent to create a joint venture with Conemaugh Health System in Johnstown, Pa., giving the system its first presence in Pennsylvania. East Orange (N.J.) General Hospital and Prospect Medical Holdings, a for- profit hospital operator based in Santa Ana, Calif., signed a nonbinding letter of intent to pursue a "strategic partnership." Faxton St. Luke's Healthcare and St. Elizabeth Medical Center, both based in Utica, N.Y., officially announced their affiliation and the formation of Mo- hawk Valley Health System. Hospital Sisters Health System, based in Springfield, Ill., and Community Memorial Hospital in Oconto Falls, Wis., signed a letter of intent to expand their partnership. Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro, N.H., and Wentworth-Douglass Health System in Dover, N.H., decided not to expand their collaboration. Humility of Mary Health Partners, a three-hospital system based in Youngstown, Ohio, and River Valley Health Partners in East Liverpool, Ohio, signed a letter of intent to merge. Most of what has crystalized since I came to the University of Utah has been built on a foundation set by people like my predecessor, Lorris Betz, MD, PhD, and his team and their predecessors. We all owe a huge debt of gratitude to the historic culture of collaboration and innovation that has made the University of Utah so strong. What I feel really happy about right now is our talent. The quality of individuals who are actively engaged in our organiza- tion, transforming our health system, advancing our research and discovery, reinventing our educational systems, and providing service to our local and global communities is nothing short of remarkable. Tapping into that talent, enhancing it and then attracting more new talent are priorities that I know I will always feel good about. n
