18 12th Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC Conference + The Business of Spine - call (800) 417-2035 TaperFill Total Hip Replacement. In July 2013, DJO Global announced the first TaperFill Total Hip Replacement implanted. The device uses wedge stem philosophy and is fabricated with a proprietary porous coating for bone in- growth. The implant is designed for long-term endurance. Taperloc Microplasty Stem. The Taperloc Microplasty Stem from Biomet builds on the company's Taperloc Hip System and incorporates new design features to address minimally invasive techniques and provide an alternative to femoral resurfacing. It includes a bone-conserving design and seven neck length options. Tenex Health TX System. The Tenex Health TX System from Tenex Health is designed for precise cutting and debridement of diseased or pathologic muscu- loskeletal tissue. The system is engineered with an innovative MicroTip design for targeted tissue cutting and removal. The system also includes responsive foot pedal technology for control. Titan Reverse Shoulder System. Integra LifeSciences' announced the first successful implantation of the Integra Titan Reverse Shoulder System in the United States in September 2013. The system has fully interchangeable com- ponents to ensure proper compatibility between primary, reverse and frac- ture humeral bodies and the press-fit or cemented platform stems. TruMatch Personalized Solutions. DePuy Orthopaedics' TruMatch Person- alized Solutions for personalized knee replacement surgery. The system is designed to eliminate up to nine steps in the surgical workflow and custom- izes implants to the patient's anatomy. univation Unicondylar Knee System. This minimally invasive operation from B. Braun and in conjunction with OrthoPilot provides integrated navi- gation into the operation for exact implant alignment. The univation system has a bone sparing design to promote stability, and only minimal bone resec- tion of the femur and tibia to secure anchorage. UniVise Spinous Process Fixation System. Medical device manufacturer VertiFlex received FDA clearance for the UniVise Spinous Process Fixation System and Totalis Direct Decompression System in January 2013. The de- vices are designed to assist surgeons in lumbar spine decompression through minimally invasive techniques. Valeo PS Pedicle Screw System. The Valeo PS Pedicle Screw System from Amedica is used during posterior fixation. The system includes a low profile, offset design to minimize soft tissue interference and palpable screw head problems. The system also enhances lateral stability and allows the surgeon to place the connector heads laterally or medially. Vanguard M Partial Knee System. John Repicci, MD, pioneered the Van- guard M Partial Knee System from Biomet designed for use in the medial and lateral compartments. The femoral component made of the cast cobalt chromium molybdenum alloy includes the spherical form of the Oxford Unicompartmental knee. VariLift-L. The VariLift-L from Wenzel Spine is an interbody fusion device designed for secure fixation in standalone use. It has more than 15 years of clinical use and requires a typical incision length of two inches. VariLift-C. The VariLift-C from Wenzel Spine is a standalone expandable interbody fusion system that eliminates the need for plates or screws. The zero-profile expandable device was designed for use in unilateral and bilat- eral procedures with a technique that emphasizes endplate preservation. VEO Lateral System. Baxano Surgical's VEO Lateral System is designed to provide direct visualization for lateral fusion surgery. The approach is in- tended to minimize iatrogenic trauma to the psoas muscle and nerve plex- us. The VEO Lateral System uses the Reveal two-stage retraction system which includes a tubular retractor for access to the psoas and independent blades for controlled psoas retraction in the anterior/posterior plane. Viewline System. The Viewline Tube Retraction System, Retractor System and Posterior MIS Instrument set from Zimmer Spine is designed for expo- sure, retraction, decompression and disc preparation for minimally invasive TLIF, PLIF, PLF and microdiscectomy procedures. The Viewline System also has a variety of tube and radiolucent aluminum blade options to give sur- geons the ability to customize. VIPER2 MIS Spine System. The VIPER 2 System builds upon the design and technique established by DePuy's VIPER System and allows surgeons to treat a wider range of pathologies with the single platform. The system is designed for immobilization and stabilization as an adjunct to fusion for patients with acute and chronic instabilities and deformities. XLIF Decade Plate. NuVasive launched its XLIF Decade Plate in October 2013. The system, designed for use in extreme lateral interbody fusion, has four points of fixation. The system is intended to reduce the number of op- erative steps and improve plate geometry. X-Stop Spacer. The X-Stop Spacer from Medtronic is an interspinous pro- cess device indicated for the treatment of lumbar spinal stenosis symptoms. The device is designed for patients aged 50 or older that suffer from pain or cramping in the legs caused by lumbar spinal stenosis. The X-Stop can be implanted at one or two lumbar levels. Zeus Oblique Lateral Lumbar Interbody Device. The Zeus OLLIF device from Amendia is constructed of PEEK and includes aggressive teeth to pre- vent implant migration. The patented cannulated design helps to safely guide the implant past the nerve root and the instrument set is designed to mini- mize operating time. ZIP MIS Interspinous Fusion System. Aurora Spine received FDA 510(k) clearance for its ZIP Minimally Invasive Interspinous Fusion System. The ZIP is designed to be a MIS spinal fixation device for spinal fusion, an alternative to pedicle screw systems. The system includes bone anchors and a large graft space intended for biologic material. n Arthrosurface ® HemiCAP ® surface implants allow the damaged part of the joint to be resurfaced without limiting motion or remov- ing significant amounts of bone and tissue. The innovative 3-dimensional mapping used to match the implant to the patient's natural anatomy makes the system a true tailored arthroplasty. Arthrosurface ® has also recently expanded our portfolio to include products for Arthrodesis, Biologics (microfracture), Small Bone Fracture Fixation for the foot and hand/wrist as well as many other solutions for arthritis and joint pain.
