Nashville, Tenn.-based Hospital Corporation of America announced the appointment of Robert F. Carrel as president of HCA's Richmond, Va.based Capital Division, effective Jan. 1, 2014. The Medical Center of Plano (Texas) named Charles Gressle CEO, effective Nov. 19, 2013. Conshohocken, Pa.-based Mercy Health System announced the appointment of Susan Croushore as interim president and CEO. Baylor Scott & White Health Central Texas, a division of Dallas-based Baylor Scott & White Health, announced the appointment of Pat Currie as president and COO. Lodi (Calif.) Health named Terry Deak CFO. Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha announced that President and CEO Glenn A. Fosdick will retire at the end of 2013. Sierra Vista (Ariz.) Regional Health Center announced the appointment of Dean French, MD, as CEO. East Meadow, N.Y.-based NuHealth's CEO Arthur Gianelli resigned. Livonia, Mich.-based CHE Trinity Health announced the appointment of Richard J. Gilfillan, MD, as president and CEO, effective Nov. 18, 2013. Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces, N.M., a part of Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Hospitals, announced the appointment of John Harris as CEO. Linda Hoff was named CFO of Portland, Ore.based Legacy Health. Orleans Community Health in Medina, N.Y., named Dolores Horvath president and CEO. Culpeper (Va.) Regional Health System announced President and CEO Lee Kirk is stepping down, effective October 2014. Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello, Ark., announced the resignation of CEO Michael Layfield. UC Health, the University of Cincinnati's affiliated health system, announced the appointment of Richard P. Lofgren, MD, as president and CEO. Gary, Ind.-based Methodist Hospitals President and CEO Ian McFadden will resign at the end of November 2013. LaGrangeville, N.Y.-based Health Quest announced the appointment of Luke McGuinness as president and CEO. Memorial Health System of East Texas appointed Ken Miller as its CFO. Murray-Calloway County Hospital in Murray, Ky., announced the appointment of Dirk Morgan as CFO. Bon Secours St. Francis Health System in Greenville, S.C., appointed Anselmo Nuñez, MD, as CEO, effective Feb. 24, 2014. Morrison (Ill.) Community Hospital named Pam Pfister permanent CEO. Dayton, Ohio-based Premier Health named Mark Shaker president and CEO of Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. North Mississippi Health Services in Tupelo announced the appointment of Shane Spees as president and CEO. Florida Hospital Zephyrhills announced the appointment of Randy Surber as CEO. Henry Ford West Bloomfield (Mich.) Hospital announced the appointment of Lynn Torossian as president and CEO, effective Dec. 9, 2013. Nashville, Tenn.-based Hospital Corporation of America named Glenn Wallace CEO of its $71 million hospital in the Alliance area, a master planned community within Denton and Tarrant counties in Texas. Hospital & Health System Transactions Oakland, Calif.-based Alameda Health System officially assumed ownership of San Leandro (Calif.) Hospital from Sutter Health in Sacramento, Calif. Appalachian Regional Healthcare, based in Lexington, Ky., plans to close Williamson (W.Va.) Memorial Hospital after acquiring it. Aspen (Colo.) Valley Hospital has been selected to join the Mayo Clinic Care Network, the first Colorado provider to be included. Baptist Health in Little Rock, Ark., and Hot Spring County Medical Center in Malvern, Ark., entered into a long-term lease agreement, effective Jan. 1, 2014. Baptist Health in Jacksonville, Fla., Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine, Fla., and Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick signed a letter of intent to create a loose affiliation. Bassett Healthcare Network, a six-hospital system based in Cooperstown, N.Y., and Rome (N.Y.) Memorial Hospital signed a nonbinding letter of intent to partner. Winfield, Ill.-based Cadence Health and Rockford (Ill.) Health System signed a letter of intent to combine their organizations. Conway (Ark.) Regional Health System launched a formal search for an affiliation partner. The primary governing group for independent physicians at East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie, La., endorsed Nashville, Tenn.-based Hospital Corporation of America as a lease partner. Fauquier Health in Warrenton, Va., officially joined Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Hospitals, as both parties finalized their joint venture agreement. Geisinger Health System in Danville, Pa., and AtlantiCare in Atlantic City, N.J., signed a letter of intent to partner. The Pennsylvania Department of Health and Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane gave the go-ahead to the merger between Danville-based Geisinger Health System and Lewistown (Pa.) Hospital. Gulf Coast Medical Center in Panama City, Fla., signed a formal clinical affiliation agreement with Doctors Memorial Hospital in Bonifay, Fla. Lafayette (La.) General Health and American Legion Hospital in Crowley, La., signed a letter of intent to consider a long-term lease agreement. In October, Lake Shore Health Care Center in Irving, N.Y., announced plans to close in January, but a company reportedly is willing to buy the 220-bed hospital. The Orleans Parish Hospital Service District A and New Orleans-based LCMC Health signed a nonbinding letter of intent to work toward LCMC operating the New Orleans East Hospital.
