Heart Care at Scripps La Jolla is the largest cardiac program in San Diego County. Sentara Norfolk (Va.) General Hospital. Sentara Heart is in its 14th year as one of the top heart programs in the nation, according to U.S. News & World Report. Sentara Heart was named on U.S. News & World Report's list of top 50 hospitals for heart care in 2013-14. It is also a Blue Cross Blue Shield Blue Distinction Center for cardiac care. Shands at the University of Florida (Gainesville). The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at Shands at the University of Florida offers hybrid lab services and outpatient care in addition to full service cardiac care and cardiac surgery. Shannon Medical Center has long been an innovator, performing Concho Valley's first openheart surgery in 1988. The center recently earned American College of Cardiology Foundation recognition and was named a Blue Distinction Center for cardiac care. Sparrow Hospital (Lansing, Mich.). The Cardiac Center of Excellence at Sparrow Hospital is the newest heart facility in the region. The program, focused on prevention, recently earned the American College of Cardiology Foundation's Silver Performance Achievement Award for high standards in heart attack care and recognition from Blue Cross Blue Shield as a Blue Distinction Center for cardiac care. Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital (Grand Rapids, Mich.). Cardiology at Spectrum Health Butterworth combines personalized medicine with specialty care and risk-education to achieve excellent cardiac outcomes. The program earned recognition as a Blue Distinction Center for cardiac care from Blue Cross Blue Shield and has also been recognized by the American College of Cardiology Foundation. St. Francis Hospital (Roslyn, N.Y.). The Heart Center at St. Francis Hospital is the only specialty designated cardiac center in New York state. St. Joseph Hospital–Orange (Calif.). The Heart and Vascular Center at St. Joseph Hospital-Orange was home to Orange County's first openheart surgery in 1961 and is one of the only health centers in the county equipped to treat adult congenital heart defects today. It recently earned American College of Cardiology Foundation and Blue Cross Blue Shield recognition for excellence in heart care. St. Luke's (Duluth, Minn.). St. Luke's Cardiology Associates takes pride in being supported by the latest evidence-based technology and techniques. St. Luke's Hospital (Cedar Rapids, Iowa). St. Luke's has the first and largest cardiology practice in the Cedar Rapids region. The hospital has often been recognized for the quality of its heart care, including recognitions from Truven Health Analytics, the American College of Cardiology, The Joint Commission and Blue Cross Blue Shield. It has earned many awards for exemplary heart care, including a place on the U.S. News & World Report's list of top 20 hospitals for heart care in 2013-14. Stormont-Vail HealthCare (Topeka, Kan.). The Cotton O'Neil Heart Center at Stormont-Vail HealthCare has 15 outreach locations and has invested in high-resolution imaging at each of them to diagnose cardiac problems on location.
