Yavapai Regional Medical Center in Prescott, Ariz., announced its president and CEO Tim Barnett is retiring. Piedmont Newnan (Ga.) Hospital announced its President and CEO G. Michael Bass will retire, effective Aug. 31. Nashville, Tenn.-based Hospital Corporation of America announced its Chairman and CEO Richard M. Bracken will retire from the role of CEO but will remain chairman of the HCA board. The board of trustees at Camden, S.C.-based KershawHealth chose Mike Bunch to become the health system's new CEO. Florida Hospital DeLand announced Tim Cook has been appointed as its CEO, effective Sept. 16. Florida Hospital Tampa tapped Dima Didenko as its new CFO. Avera St. Mary's Hospital in Pierre, S.D., announced Paul Ebmeier has been named regional president and CEO. Naples, Fla.-based Health Management Associates has formally announced it has a new board of directors — Steven Epstein, Mary Taylor Behrens, Kirk Gorman, Stephen Guillard, Joann Reed, John McCarty, Steven Shulman and Peter Urbanowicz. Gila Regional Medical Center in Silver City, N.M., announced its CNO Pam Fulks submitted her resignation, following the resignations of CEO Brian Bentley, CFO Craig Stewart and CIO David Furnas. Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Hospitals announced Victor Giovanetti has been appointed as COO of its eastern group of hospitals. Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford, N.C., named Ronald Groteluschen CFO. Robbinsdale, Minn.-based North Memorial Health Care announced Todd Ostendorf as its new CFO. Indiana University Health La Porte (Ind.) Hospital named Robert Petrina interim CFO after the recent resignation of Mark Rafalski. Mercy Health, a six-hospital, nonprofit system based in Cincinnati, named Pat Kowalski as system CFO, effective Sept. 9. Mountain States Health Alliance, a health system based in Johnson City, Tenn., announced Alan Levine has been named president and CEO, effective Jan. 6, 2014. Jeff Sherman, CFO of LifePoint Hospitals in Brentwood, Tenn., will resign from the for-profit hospital company for an undisclosed job that is closer to his family in Dallas. Riverside Medical Center in Franklinton, La., announced Kyle Magee, MD, has been named CEO. Spotsylvania (Va.) Regional Medical Center announced its CEO Tim Tobin will retire, effective Aug. 31. Plano, Texas-based LHP Hospital Group announced Mark Miller has been appointed as its executive vice president and CFO. Dallas-based Medical City named Troy Villarreal president and CEO, effective Oct. 1. Yakima (Wash.) Valley Memorial Hospital announced Russ Myers will take over as CEO when current CEO Rick Linneweh retires in January 2014. Winter Haven (Fla.) Hospital named Steve Nierman president, effective Aug. 30, as the hospital finalizes its merger with Clearwater, Fla.-based BayCare Health System. USC Verdugo Hills Hospital in Glendale, Calif., announced Debbie Walsh has been named CEO. McLaren Northern Michigan in Petoskey announced David M. Zechman has been appointed as its president and CEO, effective in early November. Lock Haven (Pa.) Hospital CEO John Zidansek left his position. Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems and Cleveland Clinic entered into exclusive negotiations concerning a joint venture purchase of certain Akron (Ohio) General Health System assets. Deerfield Beach, Fla.-based Frontier Hospitals purchased Lake Whitney (Texas) Medical Center, which was recently in danger of closing. Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen, Wash., signed a letter of intent to affiliate with Tacoma, Wash.-based MultiCare Health System. Community Health Systems will acquire Naples, Fla.-based Health Management Associates in a deal valued at $7.6 billion.
