June 2026, joining other systems in a $100 million funding round for its "Proactive Care Engine," which uses AI agents to monitor chronic- disease patients' vital signs daily and alert care teams to emerging risks between visits. e system is also an investor in and first customer of a startup whose AI platform focuses on healthcare labor and supply chains. Texas Health runs a virtual medical command center for its "Texas Health Care at Home" hospital-at-home program, which has expanded to six hospitals systemwide. It also operates surgical robotic systems. Texas Health also partners with Stryker in its "Journey to Zero" mission, adopting a full suite of high-tech products that help lessen or eradicate common risks in the operating room. omas Jefferson University Hospitals (Philadelphia). In 2016, omas Jefferson University Hospitals piloted "cognitive hospital rooms" with IBM Watson's internet of things platform, letting patients adjust lighting, temperature and music by voice. e broader Jefferson Health system later expanded a partnership with BigBear.ai in 2023, allowing hospitals to create digital twins of hospital operations, continuously updating EHR data to predict patient census and bed availability. Also in 2023, Jefferson worked with Microso and Accenture to migrate its EHR for a more modern technology infrastructure that supports faster innovation. In September 2025, it launched a systemwide AI strategy aiming to reclaim more than 10 million hours of clinician time by 2028. Jefferson has since deepened that push with a January 2026 collaboration with Qualified Health that has identified generative AI use cases across its network. UCLA Medical Center (Los Angeles). UCLA Medical Center, the flagship hospital for UCLA Health, ran what researchers called the first randomized trial comparing two commercial AI scribes, testing Microso's DAX and Nabla across 238 physicians in 14 specialties and 72,000 patient encounters. e trial found that Nabla users cut note- writing time by about 9.5% more than the control group, and both arms reported roughly 7% improvement in physician burnout scores. In June 2026, UCLA Health launched its INOVAi Center of Excellence, one of the first U.S. programs dedicated to real-world testing of clinical AI tools, overseen by a formal AI council and focused on safety. e medical center uses advanced da Vinci robotic surgical systems across multiple specialties and has partnered with Nvidia and the National Cancer Institute on multimodal AI models that analyze patient data and medical images of disease at scale. UCSF Medical Center (San Francisco). UCSF Health built its own internal AI governance and integration platform, called "Versa," that connects third-party tools such as an ambient documentation system to its EHR. By spring 2026, roughly 70% of UCSF physicians were using an AI scribe daily. In July 2026, UCSF Health launched the Converge AI Accelerator in partnership with venture firms, aiming to embed AI companies directly in its clinical workflow. It has also built the Impact Monitoring Platform for AI in Clinical Care, described as the first continuous, automated monitoring platform for the safety and equity of deployed clinical AI tools. UCSF Health also signed a 10-year Care Alliance with GE HealthCare in February 2026 covering remote imaging, staff training and MRI optimization, building on an earlier joint research program with GE on imaging, brain health and precision oncology. Virtua Health (Marlton, N.J.). Virtua Health partnered with care.ai in February 2024 with the goal of converting more than 1,000 inpatient beds into AI-enabled "smart rooms" by the end of 2025, using ambient sensors for fall detection alongside virtual nursing, tele-sitting and tele- ICU services run out of a centralized Care Logistics Center. is was the first-in-the-region, enterprisewide adoption of smart hospital rooms. e system has also built a custom sepsis-prediction model in Microso Azure, integrated into its EHR, that flags risk before onset and cuts false positives by more than 80% compared with commercial models. Virtua also built a transformer-based heart-failure prediction model that lied eligible-patient identification to 97% and helped cut average length of stay in its heart-failure units by a day. Virtua has also partnered with Stryker, and in 2026 became the first in the Philadelphia region and South Jersey to provide robotic-assisted spine surgery with a navigation system that improves safety and allows for better outcomes. Stryker offers the only soware currently available that enables safe zones, where surgical tools can be blocked from entering, lowering the potential for surrounding structures to incur damage. n
