13 COO New York hospital promotes 18-year veteran to COO amid leadership change By Kelly Gooch C assandra Davis, MS, was appointed COO of Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, N.Y., effective June 15, according to a news release shared with Becker's. Ms. Davis, who joined ECMC in 2008, most recently served as senior vice president of operations, where she oversaw surgical, rehabilitation, ambulatory, population health, pharmacy and lab services, along with plant operations and capital projects. Her recent accomplishments include introducing the Symani Surgical System in 2025, making ECMC the first hospital in Western New York to deploy the robotic microsurgery technology, and opening a new Breast Health Center that same year in the Delevan-Grider neighborhood of Buffalo, according to the release. Ms. Davis succeeds Andrew Davis, who was named president and CEO effective the same date. ECMC is a 573-bed academic medical center and Western New York's only Level 1 Adult Trauma Center. n Hackensack Meridian hospital taps COO By Kristin Kuchno Joshua Jerome has been promoted to COO of Mountainside Medical Center in Montclair, N.J. In his new role, Mr. Jerome will continue driving strategic priorities, strengthening collaboration across teams and advancing quality and safety initiatives, according to a June 8 LinkedIn post from the hospital. He previously served as assistant COO. Mountainside Medical Center is part of Edison, N.J.-based Hackensack Meridian Health. n American Cancer Society names 1st COO By Elizabeth Gregerson The American Cancer Society has appointed Art delaCruz as the organization's first COO. Mr. delaCruz will begin serving in the newly created role June 17, according to a June 10 news release from the American Cancer Society. A 22-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, he most recently served as CEO of the veteran-led humanitarian organization Team Rubicon. "His experience leading complex organizations makes him the right leader to help us advance our mission with even greater impact," Shane Jacobson, CEO of the American Cancer Society and ACS CAN, said in the release. n HCA Texas hospital names COO By Kristin Kuchno R achel Sloan has been appointed COO of St. David's Georgetown (Texas) Hospital, part of Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare. Ms. Sloan said she is excited to return to the community where she grew up, according to a June 1 LinkedIn post. She joined HCA Healthcare in 2020 and most recently served as vice president of operations at St. David's Medical Center in Austin, according to her LinkedIn profile. St. David's Georgetown is a 118-bed hospital. n HCA hospital in Tennessee names COO By Kelly Gooch S am Younger, PhD, MSN, was named COO of TriStar Summit Medical Center in Hermitage, Tenn., part of Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare. Dr. Younger will begin his new role June 1, according to a hospital news release shared with Becker's. He most recently served as COO of TriStar Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green, Ky., also part of HCA. HCA is a for-profit hospital operator with 189 hospitals and about 2,600 ambulatory sites of care in 19 states and the United Kingdom. n
