U of Arkansas for Medical Sciences adds spine
surgeon Dr. Wayne Bruffett

T
he Little Rock-based University of Arkansas for
Medical Sciences has added spine surgeon Wayne
Bruffett, MD, as an assistant professor in the UAMS
College of Medicine's department of orthopedic surgery.
Dr. Bruffett sees patients at The Orthopaedic & Spine
Hospital's Specialty Clinic and the UAMS Health
Orthopaedic & Spine Clinic in North Little Rock, specializing
in adult degenerative disorders of the cervical, thoracic
and lumbar regions, according to a July 5 press release.
Dr. Bruffett has been practicing in Little Rock for 25 years
and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic
Surgeons and the Arkansas Orthopaedic Society. n
Dr. J. Patrick Johnson joins DISC Sports &
Spine Center

J. Patrick Johnson, MD, joined DISC Sports and Spine Center to
launch the practice's Marina del Rey, Calif. surgery center.
Dr. Johnson has been the director for the Institute for Spinal Disorders
at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, DISC said in a July
20 news release. During his time at Cedars-Sinai, he trained and
mentored more than 160 spine surgeons.
Dr. Johnson will also work as a strategic advisor to DISC's parent
company, TriasMD, as the practice opens its new ASC in Marina del
Rey, Calif. n
