15 PRACTICE MANAGEMENT Dr. Thomas Graham named 1st physician in chief of Lehigh Valley Orthopedic Institute By Cameron Cortigiano Lehigh Valley Orthopedic Institute in Allentown, Pa., appointed omas Graham, MD, as its first physician in chief. Dr. Graham will be responsible for developing and implementing new programs, services and technologies at the institute, which is part of Lehigh Valley Health Network, according to an April 18 news release. He is a hand surgery specialist and has served as a hand surgery consultant, team physician or medical director for teams in the NFL, MLB, NHL and NBA as well as the PGA Tour. roughout his career, Dr. Graham has provided care to more than 2,000 professional athletes. Lehigh Valley Orthopedic Institute has more than 200 providers at 100 practice locations. Its surgeons perform more than 17,000 procedures each year, the release said. n Sanford's $161M orthopedic hospital to include hotel By Riz Hatton S ioux Falls, S.D.-based Sanford Health is building a $161 million orthopedic hospital that will include a hotel, SiouxFalls.Business reported May 15. The Sanford Orthopedic Hospital is being built at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls. The hospital will be 205,000 square feet and nine stories and include a 56-room hotel on the top two stories. The hotel will connect the orthopedic hospital to the Sanford Children's Hospital castle. Sanford is going through a request for proposal process to choose a hotel operator, according to SiouxFalls.Business. The building is expected to open in the third quarter of 2025. n Athens Orthopedic Clinic breaks ground on 23.6K-square-foot facility By Claire Wallace Athens (Ga.) Orthopedic Clinic has broken ground on a 23,600-square-foot facility in Greensboro, Ga., according to a May 10 report from the Lake Oconee Breeze. The new site will offer office visits, physical therapy and hand therapy. The facility is larger than Athens' previous facility, according to the report. The new facility is expected to open in early 2024. It is part of an undeveloped 18-acre commercial tract. n OrthoIllinois, Rockford Spine Center integrate By Carly Behm OrthoIllinois, a division of OrthoMidwest, will integrate with Rockford (Ill.) Spine Center on June 1. The spine center will become part of Rockford-based OrthoIllinois under the integration and remain at its current location, according to a May 15 news release shared with Becker's. Rockford Spine Center is operated by Michael Roh, MD, and Christopher Silva, MD. OrthoIllinois has 49 physicians and was founded in 1967. n
