13 PRACTICE MANAGEMENT 2 California orthopedic practices form 25+ physician group By Carly Behm S an Diego Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center is joining Synergy Orthopedic Specialists in San Diego to form a group with more than 25 physicians. SDSM's five physicians and physician assistant began practicing under Synergy Orthopedic Specialists on March 1, according to a March 3 news release. Talks of the partnership began in 2020, and the two now make up the largest independent orthopedic group in San Diego. "We believe this merger will allow physicians to remain independent as they navigate the changes in healthcare," Tal David, MD, Synergy Orthopedic Specialists' president, said in the release. "Patients will have greater access to what we believe is the region's foremost integrated orthopedic private practice with a reputation for quality and patient-centered care." Synergy Orthopedic Specialists has 15 locations and plans to expand in the future. n Medical office portfolio leased to Hope Orthopedics sells for $20M By Claire Wallace A four-building medical office portfolio in Salem, Ore., that is 100 percent leased to Hope Orthopedics has sold for $20 million, according to a March 6 email sent to Becker's. Hope Orthopedics is a leading care provider in the region, with 15 physicians and 13 physician assistants. e buildings, totaling 54,606 square feet, feature pods for office visits, pre and postoperative orthopedic treatment, MRI machines, X-ray machines, lab and physical therapy space. Capital Real Estate Group represented the seller, who was undisclosed. e properties were sold to a private real estate investment trust. n Precision Orthopaedic Specialties joins OrthoAlliance By Carly Behm Precision Orthopaedic Specialties in Chardon, Ohio, joined Cincinnati-based OrthoAlliance. The practice has more than 10 physicians and 50 employees, according to a March 16 news release. Precision Orthopaedic Specialties has three offices and one ASC, Chardon Surgery Center. OrthoAlliance has grown to more than 170 physicians since 2019. Earlier in 2023, the MSO added South Bend (Ind.) Orthopaedics. n OrthoVirginia to open $50M facility By Carly Behm L ynchburg-based OrthoVirginia will open a new location in Midlothian, Va. in 2024, the practice said March 2. The facility will cost $50 million and have 77,000 square feet, according to a news release. It will be part of Watkins Centre, a mixed-use development community anchored by a Bon Secours emergency center. OrthoVirginia's new location is expected to open in Fall 2024. n Former Rothman oncology chief opens orthopedic practice By Carly Behm John Abraham, MD, opened his new practice, Abraham Orthopaedics in Philadelphia. Dr. Abraham's practice focuses on joint replacements and musculoskeletal cancers, according to a March 13 news release. Abraham Orthopaedics has three locations in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Dr. Abraham was chief of orthopedic oncology at Philadelphia- based Rothman Orthopaedic Institute from 2010 to 2019. n
