33 ORTHOPEDICS Orthopedic surgeons partner with Hackensack Meridian to launch Orthopedic Specialists of New Jersey By Claire Wallace A team of orthopedic surgeons are partnering with Hackensack (N.J.) Meridian Health to launch a new practice, Orthopedic Specialists of New Jersey. Orthopedic Specialists will offer a range of services, including knee, hip, shoulder, elbow, spine, hand and wrist care, according to a May 3 press release. Physicians joining Orthopedic Specialists include Rocco Bassora, MD; Gregg Roger Klein, MD; John David Koerner, MD; Harlan Brett Levine, MD; Ari Seidenstein, MD; Daniel Seigerman, MD. Orthopedic Specialists will open practice locations in Paramus, Franklin Lakes and North Bergen. Physicians will be affiliated with Hackensack and will have access to the Helena Theurer Pavilion, a new state-of-the-art surgical tower. n Dr. Alex Vaccaro, Dr. Pierce Nunley partner with Surgalign to advance AI tech By Carly Behm A lexander Vaccaro, MD, PhD, and Pierce Nunley, MD, are collaborating with Surgalign to support Holo AI insights and the company's other artificial intelligence platforms. ey will work to advance Holo AI Insights, which was launched in March, according to a May 3 news release from Surgalign. e partnership aims to enhance clinical decision support and patient care with AI. Holo AI Insights is designed for the lumbar spine. It's currently used for research but there is interest for use in patient care, the release said. "I've had the privilege of working with many companies in evaluating and developing new technologies," Dr. Vaccaro, president of Philadelphia-based Rothman Orthopaedic Institute, said in the release. "With Holo AI Insights, for the first time, we will be able to assess imaging with real, quantitative information which should drive more informed clinical decisions and ultimately, help drive better patient outcomes." Dr. Nunley, of Shreveport-based Spine Institute of Louisiana, will lead efforts in the state. "rough Holo AI Insights, we gain a clearer picture of medical images based on quantifiable data which can assist us in formulating clinical guidance for our patients," Dr. Nunley said in the release. "AI is becoming more prominent in the medical field and we look forward to working with Surgalign to unlock its potential." n PGA star Will Zalatoris undergoes season-ending spine surgery By Carly Behm Professional golfer Will Zalatoris underwent a microdiscectomy on April 8, he said in an Instagram post. Mr. Zalatoris said in the April 10 post that he is pulling out of the rest of the PGA season. He thanked spine surgeon Michael Duffy, MD, and anesthesiologist Thomas Kelton, MD. Mr. Zalatoris suffered two herniated discs in August, the PGA said in an April 10 report. He is the No. 8 player in the world. n Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health adds local orthopedic practice By Cameron Cortigiano L ancaster, Pa.-based Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health Physicians has added Westphal Orthopedics, also in Lancaster. Led by orthopedic surgeons Thomas Westphal, MD, Brian Brislin, MD, and Carl Becker, MD, the practice specializes in joint replacement surgeries and sports medicine, according to a May 2 news release from Penn Medicine. The practice has been renamed as Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health Physicians Orthopaedics, the release said. n
