17 ASC MANAGEMENT OhioHealth, Surgery Partners team up to grow ASC care across the state By Claire Wallace C olumbus-based OhioHealth and Nashville-based healthcare services company Surgery Partners have formed a new company to grow ASC joint ventures across the state of Ohio, according to an April 28 press release sent to Becker's. e partnership will start by expanding within the 50 counties OhioHealth currently serves, and eventually growing into the remaining 38 counties. e partnership aims to build an enhanced experience for patients and foster relationships with surgeons across the state. It offers physicians the opportunity to have a say in day-to-day operations and long-term strategy, according to the release. "OhioHealth is already that partner for inpatient as well ambulatory care in more than half of the state of Ohio. However, to support our organization's desire to grow beyond our traditional geographic areas, to meet patients where they are in their health journey, and to partner with surgeons across the state, we needed the right management partner. We feel Surgery Partners, the leading independent operator of surgical facilities, is the perfect fit," Brian Jepson, president of OhioHealth's central market, said in the release. n Banner Health to close Colorado ASC By Riz Hatton P hoenix-based Banner Health's surgery center in Loveland, Colo., will close March 31, the Loveland Reporter-Herald reported March 7. Banner Surgery Center-Skyline is located in the Skyline Center for Health. The ASC is the result of a 2018 partnership between Banner Health and management company Atlas Healthcare Partners. The decision to close the center's doors, "was made to better align outpatient surgery services for physicians and patients in Loveland, and Larimer and Weld counties," according to a statement issued by Banner and Atlas. The statement also said there was a "duplication of services" between the Skyline location and another ASC in Loveland. "We are working very closely with our team members to find space for them where we have it," Dylon MacEachran, Atlas's vice president for marketing and communication told BizWest, "We are also partnering with Banner to ensure that team members are aware of opportunities with the health system in Northern Colorado." n 3 numbers pointing to ASC growth By Patsy Newitt As procedures increasingly migrate to the outpatient setting, ASCs continue to grow. Here are three numbers pointing to ASC growth: $130.6 billion: How much the global ASC market is projected to hit by 2031, increasing at a 3.9 percent compound annual growth rate over the next nine years, according to a 2022 report from Future Market Insights. 70 percent: The number of ASCs that remain independent, which leaves "room for further consolidation at the individual-facility level," according to a Jan. 26 report from VMG Health. 2.5 percent: The annual ASC growth rate was 2.5 percent in 2021, according to Avanza's "2022 Key ASC Benchmarks and Industry Figures" report. n Image Credit: ABC6
