27 CEO / STRATEGY Arizona hospital CEO exits By Kelly Gooch S hawn Morrow is no longer CEO of Show Low, Ariz.-based Summit Healthcare, the White Mountain Independent reported March 10. "The governing board, in consultation with Shawn Morrow, has mutually agreed that it is in the best interest of the organization to make a change in CEO leadership," board Chairman Paul Watson told staff in a March 7 letter, according to the newspaper. "We are grateful for all of Shawn's contributions. His leadership was instrumental in changing Summit's strategic trajectory to account for how healthcare is evolving." Mr. Morrow had served as CEO of Summit Healthcare since August 2021. According to the White Mountain Independent, Mr. Morrow told staff that "it has been a pleasure serving alongside Summit team members. As I look to the next chapter of my career, I do so with tremendous gratitude to have worked with so many good people." Mr. Watson is serving in the hospital leadership capacity during the search for an interim CEO. Before joining Summit Healthcare, Mr. Morrow served as administrator/CEO of Intermountain Health's LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City. n Optum Health names regional CEO By Laura Dyrda Optum Health promoted Caitlin Zulla to CEO of the company's east region. Ms. Zulla previously spent more than three years as CEO of SCA Health, a surgery center chain owned by Optum. The company grew to more than 320 surgical facilities during Ms. Zulla's tenure, and she led its expansion into a national specialty care provider business. SCA Health now provides services to support independent physicians through the value-based care transition. In her new role as CEO of Optum Health's east region, she will be responsible for primary, specialty, surgical and home-based care, and behavioral health services. Ms. Zulla will also oversee the virtual, urgent and community care initiatives for her region, which encompasses the Northeast quadrant of the U.S. "I am humbled and honored to serve as chief executive officer of the newly formed Optum Health East region, made up of states from Maine down to Delaware and out west through Indiana," Ms. Zulla said in a LinkedIn post. She later added, "I've seen firsthand the impact that our over 100,000 aligned clinical practitioners are making in the communities we serve - helping people live healthier lives and making the health system work better for everyone."
