Quadric BioMed received FDA 510(k) clearance for Proximerge 2, a square dental implant developed by James Grant, DDS, and Brad Renehan, DDS, MD. 2. Denti.AI Auto-Chart became the first dental auto-charting product to be cleared by the FDA. The artificial intelligence- powered device can help dental professionals interpret intraoral and extraoral 2D X-ray images by detecting and numbering intact and missing teeth. 3. Dental robotics company Neocis received 510(k) clearance for the use of its dental implant robot for bone reduction. It also received 510(k) clearance for its robotic dental workflow software, YomiPlan Go. 4. Convergent Dental received 510(k) clearance for the first and only dental laser to reduce mineral loss in dental enamel. 5. SmileGuard resin, a new 3D printing material developed by Desktop Metal, received 510(k) clearance Oct. 6. 6. Oryx Dental, a dental practice management software company, received 510(k) clearance for its imaging product, Oryx Imaging. 7. Dental technology company Overjet received 510(k) clearance for its artificial intelligence-powered cavity detection and outlining software, Caries Assist. 8. Dental supply company Envista received 510(k) clearance for an "assisted intelligence" nerve tracing feature in its DTX Studio Clinic software. 11. Pearl, an artificial intelligence company, received FDA clearance for its Second Opinion software, the first in the world to read dental X-rays to identify oral health conditions. 12. Orthodontics technology company SoftSmile received 510(k) clearance for its AI-powered Vision software, allowing orthodontists to create aligner treatment plans in-house. 13. The Delta Dental Institute commissioned communications company FGS Global to conduct a survey on Americans' relationship to oral health, which was released Dec. 7. The survey was administered in October and included 1,321 adults. The survey found that respondents wanted to prioritize oral health, but nearly half have delayed care due to inflation and rising costs. Five things to know: 1. Regardless of income, inflation and rising prices are the top reasons for delaying care for all adults. 2. Nearly two-thirds of adults older than 65 would be more likely to routinely visit the dentist if Medicare covered dental care. 3. Nearly 6 in 10 adults would continue receiving routine dental care to avoid major healthcare costs down the line, regardless of financial standing. 4. Nearly half of adults — including 42 percent of dental and healthcare workers — delayed or canceled a dental cleaning in the past two years. 5. Seventy-six percent of adults want Medicaid to require states to include dental care. n
