29 CMO / CARE DELIVERY BayCare names chief physician executive By Molly Gamble C learwater, Fla.-based BayCare will welcome Sowmya Viswanathan, MD, as its new chief physician executive at the start of 2023. Dr. Viswanathan's role is effective Jan. 1. She has worked for BayCare since June as vice president and CMO of the system's St. Joseph's, St. Joseph's Children's and St. Joseph's Women's hospitals in Tampa. Before joining 15-hospital BayCare, Dr. Viswanathan was group chief medical officer for Dallas-based Tenet Health's divisions of Massachusetts and South Carolina hospitals. Previously, she held leadership roles in Massachusetts at Dartmouth Health's Accountable Care Organization, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care & Network Health and UMass Memorial Medical Center, among other organizations. Dr. Viswanathan is board-certified in internal medicine. BayCare has seen numerous executive changes throughout 2022. Stephanie Conners, BSN, RN, took the helm as CEO in November, and numerous promotions followed. n Highest paid specialties for PAs By Kelly Gooch Y ear over year, median total cash compensation for physician assistants and nurse practitioners climbed by 4.5 percent, according to a survey released Dec. 7 by consulting firm SullivanCotter. e "2022 Advanced Practice Provider Compensation and Productivity Survey" examines advanced practice provider median total cash compensation, which includes base pay plus performance incentives. It is based on data for nearly 700 organizations, including hospitals, health systems, medical groups and academic medical centers, representing more than 100,000 individual advanced practice providers. e 2022 data reflects total cash compensation from Jan. 1, 2021, to Dec. 31, 2021.
