33 TRANSACTIONS Illinois practice, ASC launches health plan By Laura Dyrda S pringfield (Ill.) Clinic, a multispecialty physician practice with an ASC, launched a health plan, according to a Dec. 8 report from the Illinois Times. e Springfield Clinic Advantage Plan, administered through Consociate Health, allows employers to become self-insured and in- network with the clinic. In 2021, Springfield Clinic exited the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois network, disrupting access to covered care for many patients. e direct-to-employer health plan aims to reduce annual premium increases for employers and beneficiaries, as well as out-of-pocket costs. e health plan is available for employers with 10 or more workers and offers "equal or better than" rates for fully insured insurance products, according to the report. Springfield Clinic's health plan also offers: • Reduced or waived co-pays and deductibles when using Springfield providers • Employee wellness services • Disease prevention Springfield Clinic doesn't directly make money from the health plan. n Louisiana hospital sells surgery center for $8.95M By Carly Behm B aton Rouge, La.-based Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center sold its ASC in the same city for $8.95 million, e Advocate reported Nov. 11. e Lake Surgery Center was sold to Perkins Plaza Development, represented by orthopedic surgeon Larry "Chip" Bankston, MD., the report said. Other officers for Perkins Plaza Development include the hospital's CFO, Lowell Stanton and former Lake executive Brad Jackson. While the surgery center has been used for orthopedic and colorectal procedures, there's a chance the facility could be exclusively for orthopedics. A spokesperson for OLOL said the surgery center is co-owned by the hospital and Dr. Bankston's practice, Baton Rouge Orthopaedic Clinic. n Atrium Health gains approval for $30.13M North Carolina ASC By Claire Wallace Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist has received regulatory approval to open a $30.13 million ASC in Greensboro, N.C., according to a Nov. 18 report from the Winston-Salem Journal. The center will have three operating rooms and three procedure rooms, and will specialize in ENT, ophthalmology, orthopedics, plastic surgery and urology. It is expected to open in October 2024 and will serve 1,374 patients in its first year, according to projections. n Tennessee medical office building sold for over $7M By Claire Wallace A 17,837-square-foot medical office building has sold for $7.4 million in Chattanooga, Tenn., according to a Dec. 12 report from ReBusiness Online. CHI Memorial is fully occupied by three tenants, Skin Cancer and Cosmetic Dermatology, CHI Memorial and Center MedSpa. The buyer and seller of the property were both undisclosed. n
