29 DEVICES & IMPLANTS Spine partnership to commercialize cervical disc replacement implant By Carly Behm Synergy Spine Solutions and Ortho Consulting Group are expanding their partnership to commercialize products in the European, Middle Eastern and African regions. OCG plans to add a product manager who will work to support sales of the Synergy Cervical disc in the EMEA regions, according to a Sept. 12 news release. It is the only artificial cervical disc with a 6-degree lordotic core. It is designed for patients with degenerative disc disease causing radiculopathy or myelopathy. The Synergy disc is commercially available in Australia, New Zealand, Europe and Canada. It is designated for investigational use in the U.S. n Former NuVasive exec to lead orthopedic devicemaker By Carly Behm Massimo Calafiore, who was NuVasive's chief commercial officer and executive vice president, was named CEO of LimaCorporate. Mr. Calafiore stepped down from NuVasive in August. He was chosen to lead LimaCorporate by its board of directors, according to a Sept. 12 company news release. Emmanuel Bonhomme, who was LimaCorporate's interim CEO, will be the company's chief commercial officer. LimaCorporate focuses on orthopedic reconstructive and custom devices. n eCential Robotics' spine robot gets FDA clearance By Carly Behm France-based eCential Robotics received FDA 510(k) clearance for its 3D imaging, navigation and robotic guidance spine system. e clearance secures the company's plans to grow in the U.S. market, and the robot has been used in more than 2,000 cases in Europe, according to a Sept. 1 news release from eCential. ECential's robot is a fully unified intraoperative imaging, navigation and robotics platform.
