34 CEO / STRATEGY Warner Thomas to lead Sutter Health; Pete November named Ochsner Health CEO By Kelly Gooch W arner omas, president and CEO of New Orleans-based Ochsner Health, has accepted a new role as president and CEO of Sacramento, Calif.-based Sutter Health, according to a Sept. 13 Ochsner Health news release shared with Becker's. e Ochsner Health board has named Pete November, Ochsner Health's current executive vice president and CFO, as Ochsner Health's next CEO, effective Nov. 1. "Leading Ochsner Health over the past 10 years will be one of the greatest accomplishments of my career," Mr. omas said in the re- lease. "I leave Ochsner with a tremendous amount of pride and sat- isfaction, but also a tremendous confidence in the future of the or- ganization and the great accomplishments that are yet to come. With Pete at the helm and the exceptional leadership team in place, Ochs- ner Health will continue to navigate the challenges brought on by a changing healthcare landscape." Mr. omas served as Ochsner Health's president and COO for 14 years, from 1998 to 2012. He became president and CEO in 2012. During his tenure, he is credited with playing a key role in the organi- zation's growth and success. is includes expanding across Louisiana and the Gulf South to become a 40-hospital organization with about 36,000 employees. Ochsner Health's Ochsner Medical Center has also consistently been the top-ranked hospital in Louisiana by U.S. News & World Report. Mr. November has served in various roles at Ochsner Health since joining the system in 2012. He initially served as senior vice presi- dent, general counsel and chief compliance officer. He also previously served as executive vice president, digital health and chief adminis- trative officer. Mr. omas will join Sutter Health as president and CEO on Dec. 1, becoming the organization's first external CEO in more than 40 years, according to a Sept. 13 news release from the health system. He will succeed James Conforti, Sutter Health's COO who has been helming the health system since January. Sutter Health is a 22-hospital health system with 53,000 employees. n Henry Ford Health taps former COO for CEO role By Alexis Kayser D etroit-based Henry Ford Health has named Robert Riney — the system's former COO — as its new CEO and president. Mr. Riney has been serving as interim CEO since Wright Lassiter III departed in August, according to a Sept. 8 news release shared with Becker's. Mr. Riney has served Henry Ford Health since 1978, according to the release. His previous roles include president of healthcare operations, chief administrative officer, chief human resources officer and vice president of organizational design and effectiveness. n HCA president to retire after 40 years By Ayla Ellison B ruce Moore, president of service line and operations integration at HCA Healthcare, will retire at the end of the year after a 40-year career with the Nashville, Tenn.-based company. Mr. Moore, who joined HCA as a staff auditor in 1982, has contributed to HCA's growth throughout his time with the company. Under his leadership, HCA has grown to include a behavioral health services platform with more than 50 facilities, 70 inpatient rehabilitation facilities and one of the largest ambulatory care networks in the U.S. "His commitment to HCA Healthcare's mission and culture has helped him be an effective leader and trusted advisor," HCA Healthcare CEO Sam Hazen said in a Sept. 13 news release. "We wish him well in this next chapter." HCA, a 182-hospital system, said a search is underway for Mr. Moore's replacement. n Tenet opens South Carolina hospital By Ayla Ellison D allas-based Tenet Healthcare has opened a 100-bed hospital in Fort Mill, S.C. The new hospital, Piedmont Medical Center-Fort Mill, opened Sept. 7 and has six multispecialty operating rooms, 10 labor and delivery/recovery postpartum rooms, 10 intensive care unit beds and a medical/surgical unit. Piedmont Medical Center-Fort Mill has about 300 employees. When the facility is fully staffed, it will have 500 workers, the hospital's CEO Chris Mitchell said, according to WSOC-TV. The hospital is hosting several hiring events and offering sign-on bonuses of up to $20,000 for select positions. n
