26 JOINT VENTURES UAB Medicine opening joint venture ASC By Marcus Robertson Winfield, Ala.-based Northwest Regional Health and UAB Medicine, based in Birmingham, are partnering for a new surgery center. The facility will be located in Winfield, UAB said Aug. 3. It will be led by Greg Kennedy, MD, PhD, UAB Heersink School of Medicine's gastrointestinal surgery division director and John H. Blue Chair of General Surgery. It will open Aug. 12, UAB said. n Capitol Pain Institute, private equity firm partner to create pain management platform By Riz Hatton A n affiliate of Capitol Pain Institute, an interventional pain management provider, and Iron Path Capital, a private equity firm, partnered to create a physician-led consolidation platform. Capitol Pain Institute plans to build a national platform by affiliating with independent pain management practices and building new clinics. e goal of the platform is to support corporate functions at affiliated practices, according to a June 23 news release. Capitol Pain Institute has ASCs and clinics throughout Texas, Ohio and Kentucky. In addition to interventional pain management, the provider offers spinal cord and peripheral nerve stimulation, interspinous stabilization and fixation and posterior SI joint fusion. is transaction is Iron Path Capital's third platform investment since its founding in 2021. n Orthopedic chain opening joint venture outpatient clinic By Marcus Robertson S ioux Falls, S.D.-based orthopedic chain InReach Physical Therapy is opening an outpatient clinic in Hillsboro, Ore., with network partner Physical Rehabilitation Network. The clinic will offer pre- and postoperative care, nonsurgical pain management, sports medicine and other services, PRN said Aug. 18. The center will be InReach's first in the area. "Our new clinic is fully equipped to provide greater access to musculoskeletal care for this community while ensuring each patient is treated with an individualistic approach and receives the highest levels [of] care and support," Clinic Director Ashley Grigor said in a news release. n Centura Mercy Hospital, USPI partner to build Colorado ASC By Riz Hatton Durango, Colo.-based Centura Mercy Hospital has partnered with Dallas-based United Surgical Partners International and local physicians to build a new surgery center. Three Springs Surgery Center will be located in Durango. It is expected to be 13,500 square feet with three operating rooms and two procedure rooms, according to a July 6 news release. The ASC will offer spine, orthopedics, pain, podiatry, gastrointestinal and urology services. Construction for the center is expected to begin in 2022 and be completed in 2024, the release said. n
