Dallas-based Steward Health Care has ac- quired the property of the former Miami Medical Center from Miami-based Nick- laus Children's Health System. Leawood, Kan.-based Noble Health reached an agreement for Wylie, Tex- as-based company Platinum Team Man- agement to take control of two shuttered hospitals and nine medical clinics. Topeka, Kan.-based Stormont Vail Health may partner with the financially struggling Geary Community Hospital in Junction City, Kan., after the system's letter of intent was accepted by the hospital and Geary County Commission. Livonia, Mich.-based Trinity Health and Chicago-based CommonSpirit Health have signed an agreement for Trinity to acquire CommonSpirit's MercyOne Health System assets and facilities. Clive, Iowa-based Mer- cyOne has 16 medical centers, 27 affi liate organizations and more than 420 care sites. Dallas-based Steward Health Care acquired Abrazo Mesa (Ariz.) Hospital, an eight-bed microhospital. The facility was renamed Steward Mesa Hospital. Peoria, Ill.-based OSF HealthCare com- pleted its purchase of the real estate, med- ical equipment and other assets of the closed Galesburg (Ill.) Cottage Hospital for $4 million. SUNY Upstate Medical University plans to acquire Crouse Health in a move that would shake up the hospital market in Syracuse, N.Y. Both organizations are based in Syracuse. Edison, N.J.-based Hackensack Meridian Health and Englewood (N.J.) Health have dropped their merger plans. Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare signed an agreement to acquire Richmond, Va.-based BetterMed, an urgent care prac- tice with 12 locations. Salt Lake City-based Intermountain Healthcare and Broomfield, Colo.-based SCL Health completed their merger af- ter the Colorado attorney general's office signed off on the deal March 31. Highlands Hospital in Connellsville, Pa., officially joined DuBois, Pa.-based Penn Highlands Healthcare April 1 after receiv- ing regulatory approvals, becoming the system's eighth hospital. Jennings (La.) American Legion Hospital joined New Orleans-based Ochsner Health on April 1. The hospital was renamed Ochsner American Legion Hospital. Morgantown, W.Va.-based Mon Health System and Charleston, W.Va.-based CAMC Health System signed a letter of intent to create a single new system named Vandalia Health. North Ottawa Community Health System, a single-hospital network in Grand Haven, Mich., is exploring a deal to join Livonia, Mich.-based Trinity Health. Tucson, Ariz.-based TMC Health has started the due diligence process to ac- quire Santa Cruz Valley Regional Hospital in Green Valley, Ariz. Robbinsdale, Minn.-based North Memori- al Health will take full ownership of Maple Grove (Minn.) Hospital by purchasing the final 25 percent stake from Minneapolis, Minn.-based Fairview Health Services. Yakima (Wash.) Valley Memorial signed a letter of intent to explore joining Tacoma, Wash.-based MultiCare Health System. Medical Properties Trust has sold a 50 per- cent stake in eight Massachusetts hospitals to Macquarie Infrastructure Partners.n
