24 JOINT VENTURES Surgery Center Services of America opening 6 ASCs By Pasty Newitt M esa, Ariz.-based Surgery Center Services of America has plans to open six ASCs in the next year, CEO Philip Blair told Becker's ASC Review. Here are the six ASCs: 1. Arrowhead Surgery Center in Duluth, Minn., is a multispecialty, 11,283-square-foot neurospine ASC. It will feature two operating rooms and is slated to open during the fourth quarter of 2022. 2. North Valley Surgery Center in Chico, Calif., is an 8,000-square- foot ophthalmology ASC. It will feature two operating rooms and is slated to open during the first quarter of 2023. 3. East Valley ASC in Mesa, Ariz., is a 6,500-square-foot cardiology ASC and catheterization lab. It will feature two operating rooms and is slated to open during the fourth quarter of 2022. 4. Advanced Plastic Surgery Institute and Med Spa in Gilbert, Ariz., is a 7,500-square-foot plastic surgery ASC. It will feature three operating rooms and is slated to open the first quarter of 2023. 5. Apex Heart and Vascular Center in Glendale, Ariz., is an 8,098-square-foot cardiology catheterization laboratory with two operating rooms. The ASC is breaking ground in April and is slated to open in the first quarter of 2023. 6. Texas Cardiovascular Center in Amarillo is a 30,310-square-foot car- diology catheterization lab and ASC. The ASC features three operat- ing rooms and is slated to open in the second quarter of 2023. n There's a new ASC-connected private equity venture in town By Marcus Robertson P rivate equity firms Vesey Street Capital Partners and MD Healthcare Partners are joining to build a multisite healthcare services platform. The companies said Feb. 9 that the partnership will look to acquire and build an organization with a value proposition that increases healthcare quality and efficiency while reducing costs. The firms will fund the partnership organization through both organic and acquisition-based strategies. Vesey Street's managing partner Adam Feinstein previously served on the board of directors at Brentwood, Tenn.-based ASC manage- ment firm Surgery Partners, which MD Healthcare Partners' CEO Mike Doyle co-founded. n HCA, Atlantic Orthopaedics finish ASC in New Hampshire By Patsy Newitt C onstruction of Portsmouth, N.H.-based New England Center for Orthopaedic Surgery has been completed. The 11,000-square-foot ASC is a joint venture between New York City-based Atlantic Ortho- paedics & Sports Medicine and HCA Health- care, Atlantic Orthopaedics said Feb. 16. The single-specialty center will feature three operating rooms. n $375 million joint venture project with ambulatory pavilion breaks ground in DC By Patsy Newitt W ashington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser, Universal Health Services, George Washington University and Children's National Hospital broke ground on a medical center with an ambulatory pavilion. The Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center in D.C. will include a 136-bed hospital, ambula- tory pavilion for physician offices, clinics and community space, Mayor Browser's office said Feb. 17. Slated to open December 2024, the 365,000-square-foot medical center will offer academic medicine, pediatric care, women's health services, emergency departments, specialty care and outpatient services, among other services. n
