University Health Care System, a three-hos-
pital system in Augusta, Ga., officially joined
Atlanta-based Piedmont Healthcare on March
1. Piedmont now comprises 19 hospitals.
Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Spectrum Health
and Southfield, Mich.-based Beaumont
Health created a new health system, tempo-
rarily called BHSH System.
New York City-based NYU Langone Health
and East Patchogue, N.Y.-based Long Island
Community Hospital made their partner-
ship official March 2 aer receiving state
and federal approvals. e deal makes NYU
Langone the parent organization of Long
Island Community Hospital.
Columbus, Ohio-based Nationwide Chil-
dren's Hospital has taken over ownership of
Toledo, Ohio-based Mercy Health-Children's
Hospital, which will be named Nationwide
Children's Hospital-Toledo.
Pajaro Valley Healthcare District Project was
approved by a bankruptcy judge to purchase
Watsonville Community (Calif.) Hospital.
MyMichigan Health has added its 10th fa-
cility, War Memorial Hospital, in Sault Ste.
Marie, Mich.
e boards of Lifespan and Care New England
— both based in Providence, R.I. — decided
to withdraw their merger application aer the
Federal Trade Commission said it would file a
lawsuit to block the deal.
StoneBridge Healthcare, a financial turn-
around company, submitted a takeover bid
for Providence, R.I.-based Care New England
Health System.
Iron Mountain, Mich.-based Dickinson
County Healthcare — a one-hospital system
with several clinics — has officially joined
Marshfield (Wis.) Clinic Health System.
Newark, Del.-based ChristianaCare plans to
acquire Springfield, Pa.-based Crozer Health
from Los Angeles-based Prospect Medical
Holdings aer signing a letter of intent.
Yale New Haven (Conn.) Health System
agreed Feb. 10 to acquire two Connecti-
cut health systems from Los Angeles-based
Prospect Medical Holdings. Yale New Haven
Health will purchase the assets and opera-
tions of three hospitals that make up the two
systems: Waterbury (Conn.) Hospital, Man-
chester (Conn.) Hospital, and Vernon, Conn.-
based Rockville General Hospital.
Duarte, Calif.-based City of Hope now has one
of the largest footprints in cancer research and
treatment aer it completed its acquisition
of Cancer Treatment Centers of America, a
network of oncology hospitals and outpatient
centers.
Centennial, Colo.-based Centura Health
signed an asset purchase agreement to acquire
two hospitals from Brentwood, Tenn.-based
LifePoint Health: Colorado Plains Medical
Center in Fort Morgan and Western Plains
Medical Complex in Dodge City, Kan.
Elkins, W.Va.-based Davis Health System has
taken over operations of Webster County Me-
morial Hospital in Webster Springs, W.Va.
Kearney (Neb.) Regional Medical Center
joined Lincoln, Neb.-based Bryan Health. n
