Russian authorities raided 25 addresses across the country belonging to 14 suspected members of the organized crime group. They seized more than 426 million rubles (about $6 million), 500,000 euros, $600,000, as well as computer equipment, cryptocurrency wallets and 20 luxury cars. The detained members of REvil were charged with "il- legal circulation of means of payment" under Russia's criminal code. The Russian Federal Security Service said the ransomware gang has "ceased to exist" and the IT infrastructure it used for crime has been neutralized. The gang is believed to be responsible for some of the most severe cyberattacks in 2021, including the strikes on the Co- lonial Pipeline, meat supplier JBS and software firm Kaseya. n Outcomes from telemedicine just as good as in-person care, study shows By Georgina Gonzalez R eplacing and augmenting regular in-person visits with virtual care results in similar health outcomes and patient satisfaction, U.S. News & World Report reported Jan. 3 A study published in the Annals of Internal Medi- cine reviewed 38 clinical trials from 2013 to 2021 that measured the ability of telehealth to replace or enhance regular patient care. Researchers found that in most cases, care provided by telemedicine had the same or even better quality than in-person visits. Some of the conditions that patients were treated for via telehealth were diabetes, respiratory illnesses and chronic pain, among others. The study didn't take into account diagnosing disease or preventing illness. n
