Elkins, W.Va.-based Davis Health System took over operations of Webster County Me- morial Hospital in Webster Springs, W.Va. Evanston, Ill.-based NorthShore University HealthSystem and Naperville, Ill.-based Ed- ward-Elmhurst Health finalized their merger. Kearney (Neb.) Regional Medical Center joined Lincoln, Neb.-based Bryan Health on Jan. 1, expanding the system's number of employees by 850 to more than 6,300. Elizabeth-based Trinitas Regional Medi- cal Center has joined West Orange-based RWJBarnabas Health, both in New Jersey, as the system's 12th hospital. Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare final- ized the purchase of MD Now Urgent Care, a network of 59 urgent care centers in Florida. Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Health completed its acquisition of Louisville, Ky.- based Kindred Healthcare and officially launched ScionHealth, a new healthcare company related to the transaction. Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare and its sub- sidiary, United Surgical Partners Interna- tional, completed their acquisition of Tow- son, Md.-based SurgCenter Development. Winfield, Ala.-based Northwest Medical Center has become a member of the Univer- sity of Alabama at Birmingham Health Sys- tem aer entering into a management agree- ment, which went into effect Jan. 1. Madison, Ind.-based King's Daughters' Health has joined Louisville, Ky.-based Norton Healthcare as the system's sixth hospital and its first outside Louisville. Vineland, N.J.-based Inspira Health entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Salem (N.J.) Medical Center. Salt Lake City-based Intermountain Health- care and Broomfield, Colo.-based SCL Health signed a definitive agreement to merge. Nashville, Tenn.-based Ascension Saint omas signed a definitive agreement to add ree Rivers Hospital in Waverly, Tenn., to its health system. Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach, Calif., and Providence, a Catholic health system based in Renton, Wash., will end their affiliation. West Des Moines, Iowa-based UnityPoint Health is exploring a deal to sell three of its hospitals in central Illinois to Urbana, Ill.- based Carle Health. Highlands Hospital, a 64-bed facility in Con- nellsville, Pa., signed a definitive agreement to join DuBois, Pa.-based Penn Highlands Healthcare. n
