ACOs & Integrated Delivery Models 31 Implementation of Value-Based Payment Models to Begin With Employee Group Plans, Study Says 55% of Hospital Execs Say Their Organizations Plan to Participate in an ACO by Year's End By Anuja Vaidya   S eventy-seven percent of quality management leaders and CMOs report that the most popular target for implementation of value-based payment models is employee group plans, according to "Health Plan Readiness to Operationalize Value-Based Payment Models," a research study sponsored by Availity, a health information network connecting providers and payors. The study was administered by independent research firm, Porter Research, in 2012. Researchers interviewed qualified participants of 39 health plans who were knowledgeable about their organizations' valuebased payment model plans and programs. Target participants included quality management leaders, medical directors and CMOs. Other health plans that are targets for implementation of value-based payment models, according to the study, are: •    Medicare plans — 54 percent •    Medicaid plans — 46 percent By Anuja Vaidya   A lmost 22 percent of hospital executives say their organizations participate in an accountable care organization, with 55 percent planning to be in one by the end of 2013, according to the spring 2013 edition of the "Economic Outlook" survey by Premier healthcare alliance, a performance improvement alliance for healthcare providers. For the survey, researchers polled 530 hospital C-suite executives and materials and practice area managers. Other significant findings of the survey are: • orty percent of respondents are projecting their capital spending to F increase over the next year. • lmost 37 percent of survey respondents are projecting a capital A spending decrease. • wenty-nine percent of survey respondents report that the overutiT lization of products and services is one of the biggest drivers of healthcare costs. • orty-eight percent of survey respondents say that reimbursement F cuts have the greatest impact on their health system. n •    Individual plans — 44 percent •    Other — 5 percent Register Today!
