38 TRANSACTIONS USPI to buy stake in 9 ASCs By Alan Condon D allas-based United Surgical Partners Interna- tional has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Compass Surgical Partners' owner- ship and management interests in nine ASCs. Once the transaction closes, USPI will have acquired about 20 percent ownership interest in the surgery centers, as well as management responsibilities of the facilities, the company said in an Oct. 11 news release. USPI will manage and jointly own the ASCs through partnerships with about 125 physicians as well as some local health systems. The acquisitions include ASCs in Florida, North Caroli- na and Texas. About 60 percent of the case mix relates to musculoskeletal procedures, with the rest coming from ophthalmology and ear, nose and throat. The deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter. Financial terms were not disclosed. n Private equity firm acquires Texas medical building, ASC By Patsy Newitt P rivate equity firm IRA Capital acquired the prop- erty housing Beaumont, Texas-based Digestive Disease Institute, RE Journals reported Oct. 8. The 21,000-square-foot, gastroenterology-focused medi- cal office building and ASC is 100 percent leased to GI Alliance and the Endoscopy Center of Southeast Texas. The Endoscopy Center of Southeast Texas is a special- ized ASC and joint venture between physician partners and AmSurg, an ASC management company. GI Alliance became a tenant of the building in 2019 through its affiliation with Southeast Texas Gastroenter- ology Associates. IRA Capital acquired three gastroenterology-focused medical office buildings in San Antonio in July, which were 100 percent leased to GI Alliance. n Tennessee dermatology chain acquires Minneapolis plastic surgery center By Marcus Robertson B rentwood, Tenn.-based Pinnacle Dermatology has acquired Minneapolis-area plastic surgery center Omni Cosmetic, Pinnacle said Oct. 5. Omni Cosmetic's two locations in Wayzata, Minn., a Minneapolis suburb, and St. Cloud, Minn., join Pin- nacle's 86 other U.S. locations, eight of which are in Minnesota. Details of the transaction were not disclosed. n CRH Medical acquires 2 Florida anesthesia practices By Patsy Newitt C RH Medical Corp. acquired a majority stake in two Florida anesthesia practices, the company said Oct. 7. The company acquired a 70 percent stake in Destin (Fla.) Anesthesia and a 51 percent stake in Clearwater, Fla.-based Pinellas County Anesthesia Associates. Destin Anesthesia's current estimated annualized rev- enue run rate is roughly $3 million and Pinellas County's is roughly $8 million. The acquisitions add 50 practitio- ners to CRH's 800-plus team of anesthesia providers. n
