15 SPINE SURGEONS Dr. Scott Falci to lead Colorado hospital's spinal cord injury center By Carly Behm S cott Falci, MD, has launched and will lead the Falci Institute for Spinal Cord Injuries at Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, Colo. The center will provide specialized neurolog- ical care for spinal cord injury patients, ac- cording to an Oct. 2 news release. Conditions physicians will treat include spinal deformi- ties, post-traumatic spinal cord tethering and post-traumatic syringomyelia. "By strengthening our relationship with Swed- ish Medical Center, we now are able to care for these concerns in an even more cohesive and multidisciplinary manner," Dr. Falci said. n Dr. James Lynch becomes 1st surgeon to perform 100 procedures with augmented reality spine system By Carly Behm J ames Lynch, MD, became the first surgeon to perform 100 cases with Augmedics' Xvision augmented reality spine system, accord- ing to a Sept. 28 news release from Reno-based Spine Nevada. Dr. Lynch performed his first Xvision case in June 2020 at Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno. His 100th case was an L3-L4 lateral fusion completed Sept. 23. "We feel privileged to be working with Dr. Lynch. He's been commit- ted to using our technology on fusion cases and has provided invalu- able feedback on Xvision," Augmedics Chief Commercial Officer Tim Murawski said. Xvision utilizes a headset that helps surgeons determine the position of surgical tools in real time. It's designed for better, faster and safer surgeries, according to the company. n
