14 BECKER'S DENTAL + DSO REVIEW - VOL. 2021 NO. 4 DENTAL SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS DSO buys group of Arizona practices for $60M By Gabrielle Masson T empe, Ariz.-based Menlo Dental Transitions on Aug. 11 announced its aggregate sale of multiple Arizona dental practices for $60 million to a dental partner- ship organization. A large group of dentists coordinated with Menlo Dental Transitions to identify the best buyer to maximize the col- lective value of each practice, allow dentists to retain both clinical and operational direction, protect practice culture, and achieve the highest market valuations. The practice transitions brokerage company represented the dentists collectively during the sale. "Dental partnership organizations and dental service or- ganizations continue to increase their market share in Ari- zona," said Matt Porter, principal with Menlo Dental Transi- tions. "Instead of ignoring these changing conditions, we wanted to ensure dentists are maximizing their wealth by considering these types of sales." n Pacific Dental Services opens dental-medical practice to support whole body health By Ariana Portalatin I rvine, Calif.-based Pacific Dental Services has launched an integrated dental-medical practice to support patients' overall health needs. The DSO opened three practices in a single location in Henderson, Nev.: Union Village Modern Dentistry, Union Village Kids' Dentistry and Union Village Medical Group. These clinicians include dentist Sarah Oweis, DMD, and physician Elena Garcia, MD. Pacific Dental Services was founded in 1994 and has a network of more than 800 supported dental offices nationwide. n Solo practice dental business model a 'hot mess': Why Alabama dentist joined MB2 By Gabrielle Masson D allas-based MB2 Dental has expanded into Alabama, partnering with Meghan Darby, DDS, owner of Hunts- ville, Ala.-based Flint River Dental. "The solo practice dental business model is a hot mess," said Dr. Darby in an Aug. 27 news release. "You work building a bigger and bigger office until the administration takes over every inch of your after-hours and weekend. It turns out there is a better way [to practice]. MB2 has fantastic business, ad- ministrative, and compliance support while allowing dentists to retain practice culture and clinical autonomy." "We have been open for ten years and have struggled to break through a plateau in the last three. MB2 has business support that will help tremendously with that endeavor," said Dr. Darby. In 2021 alone, MB2 has reported 59 new partnerships. The dental partnership organization currently has partnerships in more than 30 states. n
