47 JOINT VENTURES Regent Surgical opens joint- venture ASC in New York By Patsy Newitt R egent Surgical Health, Orthopedic Associates of Long Island (N.Y.) and Long Island, N.Y.-based Catholic Health opened a multispecialty ASC, according to a news release. The joint-venture PrecisionCare Surgery Center, based in East Setauket, N.Y., already has performed 10 cases, the release said. The ASC features four operating rooms and 16 pre- and post- operative beds. It focuses on spine, sports medicine, general orthopedic and joint replacement surgery. Westchester, Ill.-based Regent Surgical Health also inked a deal with St. Louis-based Ascension earlier this year to become its official ASC development partner. n Physician-owned ASC sells majority stake to New York health system By Patsy Newitt T he physician-owned, Amherst-based Ambulatory Surgery Center of Western New York sold a majority stake to Catholic Health, Buffalo Business First reported Aug. 5. The 30,000-square-foot ASC performed 27,000 procedures performed last year from its six oper- ating rooms and three procedure rooms.
