26 JOINT VENTURES Salem Health opens joint- venture ASC By Patsy Newitt S alem (Ore.) Health's new outpatient surgery center is now seeing patients, ac- cording to a May 9 LinkedIn post. The ASC serves the Salem Outpatient Surgery Center, a joint partnership with local physicians including Salem Health, Salem Clinic, Willa- mette Urology, and Willamette Ear, Nose and Throat and Facial Plastic Surgery, according to the Statesman Journal. Renovation of the 42,000-square-foot building, which Salem Health purchased in 2016, was completed in March. "Advances in surgical technology and tech- niques allow more surgeries to be done as scheduled procedures in outpatient surgery centers, rather than the hospital setting," hospi- tal officials said in a statement to the Statesman Journal. "This partnership will provide high- quality surgical services at a lower cost, since the cases are less medically complex and do not require hospital services." n $8M joint-venture ASC breaks ground in Arizona By Patsy Newitt M edCraft Healthcare Real Estate and Tucson, Ariz.-based TMC HealthCare broke ground on an $8 million ASC on TMC's Rincon campus, REBusiness reported May 4. The 17,000-square-foot facility will provide additional surgical services for TMC Rincon. The ASC also has the capacity for a potential 3,000-square-foot expansion, REBusiness said. Kraus-Anderson is contracting the ASC, which is slated for completion spring 2022. n Wisconsin orthopedic group, surgery center break ground on shared facility By Alan Condon The Orthopaedic Associates of Wausau (Wis.) and Wausau Sur- gery Center broke ground May 3, WSAW-TV reports. The 60,000-square-foot project will replace two separate offices that the two groups have outgrown. It will include a medical center, an ASC with large operating rooms, overnight suites and clinical space. Orthopaedic Associates of Wausau has six surgeons who oper- ate at Wausau Surgery Center, according to its website. Wausau Surgery Center specializes in orthopedics; ear, nose and throat; and plastic surgery. The facility is expected to open by June 2022. n Orlando Health inks 1st acquisition of 2021 — a multispecialty group with 19 physicians By Alan Condon L eesburg, Fla.-based FHV Health has been acquired by Or- lando Health for an undisclosed price, according to the Or- lando Business Journal. The multispecialty practice has 19 physicians and 10 locations, in- cluding cardiology practices, primary care and urgent care centers. It now operates as Orlando Health Medical Group FHV Health. FHV was founded in 1991 and specializes in cardiology, general surgery, endocrinology, kidney disease, urology and primary care. The transaction closed April 12. Last year, Orlando Health made a string of acquisitions, including Jewett Orthopaedic Clinic, 480-bed Bayfront Health St. Peters- burg hospital and 84-bed St. Cloud Regional Medical Center, which has rebranded as Orlando Health St. Cloud Hospital, ac- cording to the report. The nonprofit system is also developing Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute, a $250 million project that will feature a 75- bed hospital, a medical pavilion and an ASC. n
