Three things to know: 1. The 6,000-square-foot clinic provides a range of orthopedic services, including spine surgery, total joint replacement and sports medicine care. 2. The Stillwater center is Tria Orthopedics' seventh clinic, located within the HealthPart- ners Stillwater Medical Group clinic. 3. Tria Orthopedics was founded in 2005 and has grown to include more than 90 physicians, according to its website. n UPMC to open 7-surgeon orthopedic practice with spine care: 3 details By Alan Condon P ittsburgh-based UPMC opened an orthopedic practice in Har- risburg, Pa., on April 1. Three things to know: 1. The practice will provide the full spectrum of orthopedic care, including spine and total joint surgery. 2. Seven surgeons will practice at the facility: Steven Wolf, MD; Mi- chael Werner, MD; Nathan Wool, MD; Casey Kiser, MD; Thomas Chu, DO; Oumou Belemou, DPM; and Torre Ruth, MD. 3. UPMC West Shore Orthopaedics will share the same location as Arlington Orthopedics-UPMC, which also has seven surgeons, ac- cording to its website. "The new UPMC West Shore Orthopaedics practice further strength- ens our network of employed and independent orthopaedic providers committed to giving our patients exceptional spine, bone and joint care," Philip Guarneschelli, president of Harrisburg-based UPMC Pinnacle, said in a March 8 news release. n 25 orthopedic surgeons, Legent Health plan to open Florida surgical hospital By Laura Dyrda I rving, Texas-based healthcare company Legent Health submit- ted plans to build an orthopedic and spine surgical hospital near Delray Beach, Fla., in partnership with local surgeons, according to The Palm Beach Post. Five notes: 1. The proposed South Florida Spine & Orthopedic Institute would be a 24-bed surgical hospital. Legent is partnering with Physicians Surgical Network Associates on the facility, which would be co- owned by 25 local orthopedic surgeons. 2. The 11.3-acre site has been vacant since 1997. Legent proposed building two two-story buildings at 60,000 square feet each. 3. The surgical hospital would include small and large outpatient treatment areas and approximately 10 physician offices. 4. The Alliance of Delray Residential Association objected to the plans, saying two other nearby hospitals serve the community's needs. However, the state does not require a certificate of need. 5. The owners aim to begin building later this year and open the facility in early 2023. n 5 CEO moves at orthopedic practices in Q1 By Alan Condon S ince the beginning of the year, Becker's has reported on five CEO moves at or- thopedic practices: 1. Michael West, CEO of Rothman Orthopae- dic Institute in Philadelphia, retired March 31 after 22 years with the practice. 2. Morristown, N.J.-based Altair Health, a physician-managed health system focused on spine care, appointed Mark Farrington CEO. 3. Mr. Farrington left his post as CEO of Mayfield Brain & Spine, a 19-surgeon prac- tice providing care to patients across Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. 4. OrthoBethesda, a 14-surgeon group in Maryland, named Emil Engels, MD, CEO. 5. Joe DiPaolo was named CEO of The Ortho- pedic Institute of New Jersey in Sparta, which has 24 providers and eight locations. n
