69 ORTHOPEDICS HOPCo, Ascension joint venture spine hospital opens in Florida; Georgia expansion planned By Alan Condon A joint venture orthopedic and spine hospital opened Jan. 4 at Ascension St. Vincent's Southside campus in Jack- sonville, Fla., according to the Jacksonville Daily Record. The Performance Orthopedics and Spine Specialty Hospital is a partnership between Ascension Florida and Gulf Coast, Phoenix-based Healthcare Outcomes Performance Co. and Southeast Orthopedic Specialists in Jacksonville. St. Vincent and HOPCo, a musculoskeletal value-based health outcomes management provider, plan to expand further into Florida and Southeast Georgia this year. They will develop the specialty hospital and add ASCs in the region, according to the report. The organizations aim to develop a clinically integrated net- work of physician practices in the region, which will comprise physicians from Southeast Orthopedic Specialists, Ascension and those in the local community. n Florida orthopedic group plans HQ, surgery center with 6 operating rooms By Alan Condon B radenton, Fla.,-based Coastal Orthopedics will begin construction in January on a medical center that will feature a six-operating room surgery center, BusinessObserverFL.com reports. The 88,000-square-foot facility will include clinical services, physical therapy, administrative offices and imaging. About 150 to 200 employees will staff the center, which will be Coastal Orthopedics' largest clinical location, according to the report. Coastal Orthopedics has 20 physicians and five loca- tions, including two surgery centers, according to its website. The project is expected to be complete in spring 2022. n Florida orthopedic group, HOPCo to develop musculoskeletal platform By Laura Dyrda T he Center for Bone & Joint Surgery of the Palm Beaches in Royal Palm Beach, Fla., entered into a new partnership to develop a musculoskeletal platform in southeast Florida. Three things to know: 1. The Center for Bone & Joint Surgery partnered with Health- care Outcomes Performance Company, a national musculo- skeletal practice management and value-based care platform. 2. The partners aim to connect with other physicians, health systems and payers in the region on a clinically integrated platform for population health, bundled payments and other value-based care arrangements. 3. The partnership expands HOPCo's service offerings in Florida. In 2019, the company partnered with Southeast Orthopedic Specialists in Jacksonville, Fla., and announced a joint venture with Ascension Florida earlier this year to develop an orthopedic specialty hospital. n $35M spine hospital with ASC planned for Louisiana By Alan Condon W orkers are expected to break ground this month on a $35 million orthopedic spine hospital in Bossier City, La., ABC affiliate KTBS reports. The Spine Center of Excellence will feature an ASC; an imaging center with MRI, CT, X-ray and other spi- nal imaging; and a medical office building for spine specialists. The facility will be built on a 13.7-acre lot. In 2018, the city sold the land to Dapper Holdings, a com- pany representing the hospital. A number of spine surgeons are involved in the project, according to KTBS, including Pierce Nunley, MD, director of the Spine Institute of Louisiana in Shreveport. The project is expected to bring 100 jobs to the community. n
