28 JOINT VENTURES VMG Health acquires firm to head new service line By Angie Stewart H ealthcare valuation and transaction advisory firm VMG Health has acquired RR Health Strategies, a medical coding, compliance and manage- ment consulting firm, according to a Dec. 8 announcement. Dallas-based VMG Health ac- quired the Hauppauge, N.Y.- based firm to augment its capa- bilities with compliance-driven medical coding and operational excellence management services, according to VMG Health founder and CEO Greg Koonsman. The deal also gives RR Health Strategies clients access to improved capabilities and VMG's wide range of resources. RR Health Strategies President Pam D'Apuzzo and the company's team will lead VMG Health's new coding, compliance and opera- tional excellence service line. RR Health Strategies' coding compliance services improve revenue integrity assessments in the normal course of business and for potential transactions, according to VMG Health, and its operational excellence team optimizes workflow and staffing to boost reimbursement accuracy, minimize costs and maintain regu- latory compliance. VMG Health, a portfolio company of private equity firm Northlane Capital Partners, said it plans to continue adding services lines organically and via acquisition. n Developer, USPI break ground on Tennessee medical office building with surgery center By Eric Oliver O man-GIbson Associates broke ground on a medical office building and ASC in Murfreesboro, Tenn., that will be owned by Dallas-based United Surgical Partners International, HC+ONews reported Dec. 22. What you should know: 1. The entire development will be nearly 30,000 square feet with the ASC taking up more than 14,000 square feet. 2. The ASC will have two operating rooms and a procedure room. The rest of the square footage will be used for office space. 3. The developer expects to complete construction in June 2021. n New York hospital expands surgery center capacity By Carly Behm S aratoga Springs, N.Y.-based Saratoga Hospital upgraded its central sterile processing department to accomodate growing capacity at its surgery center, according to a Dec. 28 news release. e $5 million expansion increased the central sterile processing space about 80 percent and added the latest disinfection and sterilization equipment, the release said. Surgeries at the Wilton-based Saratoga Surgery Center, as well as the hospital have increased each year, the release said. Most of the growth comes from minimally invasive procedures requiring smaller instruments that can be challenging to clean. n PE-backed eye platform partners with 3 Florida practices By Eric Oliver Sarasota, Fla.-based US Eye partnered with three Florida-based eye practices expanding its reach in the state, the platform announced Dec. 28. Punta Gorda, Fla.-based Bayside Eye Center, Fort Myers (Fla.) Eye Center and Fort Myers- based Valentine Eye Care all partnered with the platform. All three practices will be rebranded as Center For Sight practices. Center for Sight was a founding member practice of US Eye. Center For Sight now has 14 locations in Southwest Florida, and US Eye now operates 27 clinics and three surgery centers in the Southeast U.S. n
