16 ASC MANAGEMENT Outpatient spine specialist named partner at 11-location practice — 5 details By Angie Stewart O rthopedic spine surgeon Dwight Tyndall, MD, became a partner at Chesterton, Ind.-based Lakeshore Bone & Joint Institute in January, according to a December 2020 announcement. Five things to know: 1. Dr. Tyndall provides specialized back, neck and spine care at Lakeshore Bone & Joint's new office in Munster, Ind., one of the practice's 11 locations. 2. In his more than 20 years of practice, Dr. Tyndall has built a successful surgical practice serving northwest Indiana and the Chicago area. 3. Having spent years developing minimally invasive surgery techniques, instruments and implants, Dr. Tyndall is a pioneer in outpatient spine surgery and patient-centered spine care, ac- cording to Lakeshore Bone & Joint CEO Dale Ingram. 4. Dr. Tyndall has served as a clinical assistant professor of ortho- pedic surgery at Indianapolis-based Indiana University School of Medicine for 10-plus years. 5. He completed an internship at NYU Langone Medical Center in New York City, residency training at Stanford (Calif.) Medical Center and a fellowship at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. n SurgCenter developing orthopedic-focused New Hampshire ASC By Eric Oliver T owson, Md.-based SurgCenter Development is moving forward with a new ASC develop- ment in New Hampshire, its first of 2021. SurgCenter expects to open Lighthouse Surgical Suites in Hollis, N.H., in the spring. The 7,630-square-foot ASC will have two operating rooms and will specialize in orthopedics and total joint replacements. Chris Urban, MD, chief development officer for SurgCenter, said, "We work hand-in-hand with surgeons to create custom facilities that offer their patients the convenience, level of service and safety they seek for their procedures to ensure the best possible outcomes, and as we enter 2021 in the midst of a global health crisis, the need has never been greater." This is SurgCenter's first new development since selling 45 surgery centers to Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare for $1.1 billion. n Covenant Physician Partners names ASC industry veteran Goran Dragolovic as CEO By Laura Dyrda G oran Dragolovic succeeded Lew Little as president and CEO of the physician services company. Mr. Little stepped down Jan. 11 aer four years in the role. Mr. Dragolovic has more than 30 years of experience in the healthcare industry, most recently as CEO of Women's Health USA, a national practice management platform. Mr. Draglovic also spent nearly seven years in leadership roles at Surgical Care Affiliates and Optum aer the company was acquired. He was group president of a $500 million portfolio of surgery centers and specialty hospitals in the western U.S. and led enter- prisewide strategic service line expansion. While at Optum, Mr. Dragolovic helped aggregate and organize specialty physician groups into market-leading clinically inte- grated networks. Mr. Dragolovic is moving to Nashville, Tenn., to lead the company, which is part of KKR, a private equity fund. "While Lew leaves big shoes to fill, we are delighted to welcome an executive of Goran's caliber," said Max Lin, chairman of the Cov- enant board and partner at KKR. "Goran brings the right experience and vision to grow Covenant as the partner of choice to leading physicians and allied health profes- sionals during this time of dynamic change in the delivery of healthcare." In September, Covenant added two execu- tive members to the team: Chad Baldwin as executive vice president and chief develop- ment officer, and Phyllis Smith, DNP, as se- nior vice president and chief clinical officer. e company also brought on three execu- tives in February shortly aer rebranding from a surgical center company to a physi- cian services company. Jason Dean was promoted to senior vice president and chief accounting officer; Mark Kelly was named senior vice president of the company's eye care division; and Beth Wampler was appointed senior vice president and chief human resources officer. n
