The 17 newly affiliated practices employ more than 30 den- tists. The DSO now supports more than 240 dental practices and almost 500 full-time dentists in 15 states. n Smile Brands acquires Midwest Dental By Gabrielle Masson I rvine, Calif.-based Smile Brands completed its acquisition of Mondovi, Wis.-based Midwest Dental Dec. 2. Midwest Dental has more than 230 offices located pri- marily in the upper Midwest and New England regions, op- erating in 17 states through four brands: Midwest Dental, Mondovi Dental, Merit Dental and Mountain Dental. Smile Brands will retain Midwest Dental's brand identity. The combined company represents 650 offices and over 8,000 employees in 30 states. n Aspen Dental Management acquires ClearChoice By Gabrielle Masson C hicago-based Aspen Dental Management has acquired ClearChoice Management Services, which provides practice support services to the national network of ClearChoice Dental Implant Centers. With more than 60 locations, ClearChoice Dental Implant Cen- ters provides fixed, full arch dental restorations for patients with missing or failing dentition. Aspen Dental Management is a leading DSO offering essential business services to consum- er healthcare brands, including more than 850 Aspen Den- tal-branded offices and more than 45 WellNow Urgent Care offices in New York and Illinois. The acquisition is closed at the end of 2020. n SmileDirectClub aligners now offered at 1K+ practices after partnership with Texas DSO By Gabrielle Masson A new partnership between Nashville, Tenn.- based SmileDirectClub and a Texas dental support organization means more than 1,000 affiliated practices across the U.S. now offer the company's aligners. SmileDirectClub has partnered with Arlington, Texas-based Altius Healthcare Management, a DSO with 29 offices. The SmileDirectClub Partner Network, launched in January 2020, now includes more than 1,000 partner locations. n Smile Brands adds multilocation Houston practice By Gabrielle Masson I rvine, Calif.-based Smile Brands partnered with Houston-based Southern Dental Associates Nov. 17, marking the DSO's eighth addition to its affiliated practice network since the pandemic began. Smile Brands will provide the practice with administrative support, including assistance with purchasing, accounting, IT, marketing and facilities management. Thirteen general dentists and specialists work for the seven-location practice to provide comprehensive dental care. Under the partnership, all existing staff will retain their roles and the practice will keep operating under its Southern Dental Associates name. "Houston has long been an important market for Smile Brands and we are proud to be expanding our presence through this partnership with Southern Dental Associates," Smile Brands CEO Steve Bilt said in a news release. "Our two teams share similar values including a commitment to improving lives by making dental care more convenient and affordable." n
