CapsoCam Plus is a small bowel capsule endoscope. The labeling addendum will allow for fully remote cap- sule endoscopy procedures. The change will eliminate the need for in-person interaction between physicians and patients. CapsoCam Plus is the only capsule endoscopy system that doesn't require external equipment. The patient ingests the capsule, resumes daily activities while exam data is being captured, and returns the device eight to 12 hours later, where it will be disinfected between uses. Physicians can use the CapsoCloud cloud-based soft- ware to review the images captured by the device. n Gut microbiota, managing inflammation may battle CRC By Eric Oliver A ltering microorganisms in the intestine and managing inflammation may prevent colorectal cancer, according to findings from Gainesville- based University of Florida researchers. Abnormal microbiota contributes to inflammation and CRC development. Researchers studied how managing inflammation with an anti-inflammatory treatment would affect colon cancer development in mice. Researchers gave mice with colon cancer anti-tumor necrosis factor, a therapy used to treat inflammatory bowel disease. When mice received the anti-TNF therapy, it lessened inflammation and colon cancer development. Researchers are building on the research to look for microbial genes or pathways that affect cancer develop- ment. They said more work is needed to understand the relationship between therapies, microbiota and cancer development. n
