EPreop is a software company making services for anes- thesiologists. The company has more than 18,000 end users representing 1,500 facilities. Provation will roll ePreop's software into its portfolio for hospitals and ASCs. Provation believes it has a compre- hensive platform that combines preoperative screening, evidence-based care coordination, procedure docu- mentation, coding and reimbursement. Provation is backed by private equity firm Clearlake Capital. n Mount Sinai Doctors opens Scarsdale, New York facility, expands GI services By Eric Oliver N ew York City-based Mount Sinai Doctors opened a new location in Scarsdale, N.Y., which will pro- vide an array of services. What you should know: 1. Mount Sinai Doctors will provide primary care, cardi- ology, gastroenterology, orthopedics and gynecology services, among others out of the new facility. 2. The Scarsdale facility is 15,000 square feet. 3. In addition to the services, the facility has access to imaging, laboratory services and physical therapy. 4. Mount Sinai Doctors consolidated several of its inde- pendent offices into the new space. n COVID-19 patients at risk of developing pancreatitis, according to UAMS study By Eric Oliver C OVID-19 patients face an elevated risk of develop- ing pancreatitis, according to a study conducted by a researcher at Little Rock-based University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Charleston Express reported. Researchers examined patients with pancreatitis symp- toms who were later confirmed to have COVID-19. They compared those patients to other patients with pancreati- tis who didn't have COVID-19. Physicians found that reported acute pancreatitis was one of the first signs of a COVID-19 infection. Despite the link, researchers couldn't confirm if COVID-19 was causing patients to develop pancreatitis. They concluded that acute pancreatitis should be in- cluded on a list of COVID-19 symptoms. n Modernizing Medicine recognized for COVID-19 response By Eric Oliver M odernizing Medicine received a Silver Stevie Award for Most Valuable Medical Innovation at the 17th Annual International Business Awards. The award recognized Modernizing Medicine's new Mod- med Telehealth and gTelehealth services. The company launched the new telehealth-focused offerings in a four- week time frame, which would normally take between 12 and 16 weeks. They accelerated the timeline to react to COVID-19. The offerings were designed to help closed practices continue to see patients. The Stevie Awards were based on the opinions of more than 250 executives who judged products that were nominated. n
