11 BECKER'S DENTAL + DSO REVIEW - VOL. 3 AUGUST 2020 DENTAL SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS Aspen Dental debuts digital check-in at all offices By Katie Adams A spen Dental deployed its digital check-in system in all of its 820 nationwide offices June 30 to re- duce its environmental impact and save time for dental staff and patients. Patients will give their driver's license and insurance card to a dental staff member to scan, and the system will be auto-populated with their personal information in a mat- ter of seconds. Patients will then review the information and electronically sign consent forms before their infor- mation is sent to the treatment room. Time and motion studies from Aspen Dental offices that have used the digital check-in system show the technol- ogy has cut the average patient wait time by 15 minutes and eliminated more than 1,000 hours of nonpatient sup- port time per office per year. n North American Dental Group appoints new CFO By Gabrielle Masson P ittsburgh-based North American Dental Group has tapped Jonathan Walker as its new chief financial officer, according to a July 7 news release. Before joining the dental service organization, Mr. Walker served as CEO of MedExpress, a leading urgent care and employer on- site clinic management services organization. During his tenure, MedExpress doubled in size by opening more than 150 new lo- cations in 15 states.
