28 PRACTICE MANAGEMENT 11 key spine partnerships in 2020 By Alan Condon Here are 11 spine partnerships that Becker's Spine Review has reported on in 2020 so far: May Orthofix teamed with Olympic gold medalist Laura Wilkinson, who is the first woman to win all three world titles in platform diving. In 2018, she underwent spinal fusion to address a cervical degenerative disc using Orthofix devices. Philadelphia-based Rothman Orthopaedic Institute partnered with Radix Health to provide self-scheduling technology for spine and orthopedic patients. Tampa (Fla.) General Hospital collaborated with Louisville, Ky.- based Kindred Healthcare to develop a $35 million rehab facility for spinal cord injury and other neurologic conditions. April 3D-imaging startup nView Medical partnered with OrthoGrid to combine their imaging and alignment technologies for spine and orthopedic surgeries. March AcelRX Pharmaceuticals and Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston are studying the perioperative use of DSUVIA in the analgesic regimen for spine surgery. OrthoAtlanta partnered with Atlanta-based Piedmont Healthcare to create Piedmont Orthopedics and opened a joint facility providing spine and orthopedic care in Newnan, Ga. Indianapolis-based Goodman Campbell Brain & Spine teamed with Marian University to provide medical students with hands-on learning opportunities for spine and pediatric neurosurgery. Santa Monica, Calif.-based Pacific Neuroscience Institute collaborated with John Wayne Cancer Institute to open a neuroanatomy and surgical skills laboratory. Led by neurosurgeon Garni Barkhoudarian, MD, the lab facilitates surgical training in spine, orthopedics and neurosurgery. February Tampa, Fla.-based Shriners Hospitals for Children partnered with the Atlanta-based Georgia Institute of Technology to research treatments for spinal cord injuries and orthopedic conditions. San Antonio-based SASpine teamed with spine surgeon Stanley Jones, MD, and established a new primary location in Houston. Biopharmaceutical company MicroCures and the Henry M.
