Hospital from Dallas-based Steward Health Care. e acquisition will keep the 125-year-old Easton hospital open. A management group of Dallas-based Steward Health Care physicians led by the company's CEO and founder acquired a controlling interest of Steward from Cerberus Capital Management, a private equity firm. St. Joseph Hospital Orange (Calif.) has sold one of its medical office buildings to IRA Capital, a California-based private equity firm. East Ohio Hospital LLC, a real estate investment fund, has acquired East Ohio Regional Hospital in Martins Ferry and plans to reopen the facility later this year. Hudson Regional Hospital in Secaucus, N.J., has reached an agreement to purchase and operate Bayonne (N.J.) Medical Center and Hoboken (N.J.) University Medical Center. Southfield, Mich.-based Beaumont Health announced May 29 that it is calling off a proposed merger with Akron, Ohio-based Summa Health. Advocate Trinity Hospital, Mercy Hospital and Medical Center, South Shore Hospital and St. Bernard Hospital, all in Chicago, are ending their plans to merge aer government funding for the $1.1 billion project fell through. Louisville, Ky.-based Baptist Health's acquisition of Hardin Memorial Health in Elizabethtown, Ky., will be finalized by Sept. 1, about three months earlier than previously expected. Prospect Medical Group, which is owned by Los Angeles-based Pros- pect Medical Holdings, entered into an agreement to acquire certain as- sets of CalCare IPA and Los Angeles Medical Center IPA, both of which serve Los Angeles County, and Vantage Medical Group in San Diego, San Bernardino and Riverside, Calif. St. Augustine, Fla.-based Flagler Health+ has signed a letter of intent with Gainsville-based University of Florida Health to collaborate on a comprehensive health campus in Florida. Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems has asked to be re- leased from a long-term lease it holds for Shands Lake Shore Regional Medical Center in Lake City, Fla.
