For its 2019 ranking, Equilar examined annual proxy statements filed by companies before March 31. e findings in the study reflect 2019 pay packages prior to the COVID-19 crisis. Equilar notes several com- panies are adjusting or planning to adjust their exec- utive pay plans during the pandemic. AmerisourceBergen, Steven Collis — $11.3 million n 2 Mercy execs retire early to help address financial fallout By Ayla Ellison T wo Mercy executives volunteered to retire early to help the St. Lou- is-based health system navigate financial challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the Springfield News-Leader. Fred McQueary, MD, former executive vice president and chief clinical officer at Mercy, and Jon Swope, former senior vice president and regional presi- dent of central communities, both retired at the end of June. The two executives "volunteered to begin their well-deserved retirement earlier than planned to help Mercy navigate the difficult financial terrain ahead," according to a press statement. Dr. McQueary had been with Mercy since 1993, serving in various leadership roles and practicing as an orthopedic surgeon. Mr. Swope had been with Mercy since 1980. "These leaders have served Mercy well over so many years," Mercy President and CEO Lynn Britton told the Springfield News-Leader. "Our ministry is richer for their service and their sacrificial leadership at a crucial time." The executive retirements come after Mercy announced that it is taking sev- eral steps to address expected financial damage from the COVID-19 pan- demic. Those measures include furloughs and eliminating positions at every level, according to the Springfield News-Leader. n 9 most diverse health systems By Laura Dyrda D iversityInc named nine health systems among the most diverse healthcare organizations in the U.S. in the company's 2020 rankings. The ranking of healthcare organizations is a specialty list included in DiversityInc's annual "Top 50 Companies for Diversity" ranking. Diversity is scored on four key areas, including talent pipeline, talent devel- opment, leadership commitment and supplier diversity. The nine most di- verse health systems are: 1. Northwell Health (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) 2. Henry Ford Health System (Detroit) 3. Cleveland Clinic 4. WellStar Health System (Marietta, Ga.) 5. H.
