Nine things to know about Rothman Ortho- paedics: 1. Each physician at Rothman Orthopaedics is fellowship-trained, specializing in one area of orthopedics. e group has more than 200 physicians, according to its website. 2. In 2014, Alexander Vaccaro, MD, PhD, became president of Rothman Orthopaedics. Dr. Vaccaro has been with Rothman for more than 24 years. He has more than 730 peer-re- viewed publications and serves as co-direc- tor of spine surgery and the spine fellowship program at omas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. 3. Addition- aly, the practice partnered with NueHealth and MUVE Health to integrate their respec- tive models and platforms. n Mercy to acquire 11-physician orthopedic group with 2 surgery centers By Alan Condon G alena, Kan.-based Orthopedic Specialists of the Four States signed an agreement Jan. 26 to join Mercy, reports The Joplin Globe. Ortho Four States has 11 physicians, including three spine surgeons, according to its website. The group also has five office locations and two sur- gery centers, Premier Surgical Institute and Stateline Surgery Center, both of Galena, Kan., which will also become part of Mercy. The organizations will begin using Mercy's name and branding in August, when the deal is expected to be finalized. n Planned $240M University of Rochester facility to provide spine, orthopedic care By Alan Condon T he University of Rochester (N.Y.) will build a $240 mil- lion orthopedics campus at The Marketplace Mall in Rochester, according to Shopping Center Business. Four insights: 1. Spine, orthopedic and sports medicine care will be provided at The UR Medicine Orthopaedics & Physical Performance Center. 2. The ASC will feature a multistory tower above the proce- dure and operating rooms, featuring diagnostic imaging, exam rooms, sports medicine facilities and wellness services. 3. It will span 330,000 square feet and become UR's largest off-site facility. 4. The ASC is poised to open in 2023. n
