Regional Medical Center finalized its acquisition of Granite Falls (Minn.) Health Jan. 1. Beaumont Health, the largest health system in Michigan, signed a definitive agreement to acquire the neighboring Summa Health, a four-hospital system based in Akron, Ohio. Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare has acquired a majority stake in Galen College of Nursing, which has locations in Texas, Ohio, Kentucky and Florida. Ontario, Calif.-based Prime Healthcare has withdrawn from negotiations to purchase and operate Bayonne (N.J.) Medical Center. LifePoint Health is partially shifting own- ership of St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, Ga., to Emory Healthcare through a new joint venture. Evanston, Ill.-based NorthShore University HealthSystem has finalized its acquisition of the 312-bed Swedish Hospital in Chicago. Advocate Aurora Health, a 28-hospital sys- tem with dual headquarters in Downers Grove, Ill., and Milwaukee, has entered into a definitive agreement to sell two hospitals to Urbana, Ill.-based Carle. Lebanon, N.H.-based Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health and Manchester, N.H.-based Gran- iteOne Health are seeking approval from the state attorney general to merge. Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Health Network added Grove City (Pa.) Medical Center to its health system Jan. 10. Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based AdventHealth has purchased nearly 103 acres of land for fu- ture expansion in New Smyrna Beach (Fla.). ChristianaCare, a three-hospital system based in Wilmington, Del., is establishing a network of new urgent care centers through- out Delaware in partnership with GoHealth Urgent Care. Morgantown-based West Virginia University Health System inked a letter of intent to ac- quire Uniontown (Pa.) Hospital. Boston-based Partners HealthCare, which is rebranding to Mass General Brigham, is ex- panding its primary care presence through a partnership with One Medical, a member- ship-based chain of primary care clinics. Mayo Regional Hospital received approv- al from the state of Maine to join North- ern Light Health, a nine-hospital system in Brewer, Maine. Northwell Health has acquired Queens Med- ical Associates, a New York-based oncology practice with seven locations. e Maryland Healthcare Commission grant- ed final approval for Cristfield, Md.-based McCready Health to join Salisbury, Md.-based Peninsula Regional Health System. e University of Alabama at Birmingham Health System and Ascension St. Vincent's are building on their long history of collaboration by entering into a new strategic alliance. Miami-based Nicklaus Children's Hospital plans to divest Miami Medical Center two years aer purchasing it for $88 million. Advocate Trinity Hospital, Mercy Hospital & Medical Center, South Shore Hospital and St. Bernard Hospital on Chicago's South Side have signed a nonbinding agreement to form a single integrated healthcare system. Wyoming Medical Center in Casper an- nounced Jan. 28 that it has signed a letter of intent with Phoenix-based Banner Health. e two organizations are exploring a poten- tial affiliation. UMass Memorial plans to acquire Harrington HealthCare System, a Southbridge, Mass.- based system comprised of a 119-bed hospi- tal, a satellite location and three medical office buildings. Evergreen Park, Ill.-based Little Company of Mary Hospital officially merged with Peoria, Ill.-based OSF HealthCare on Feb. 1. VillageMD, a primary care provider based in Chicago, will acquire the Summit Medical Group of Arizona.
