12 BECKER'S DENTAL + DSO REVIEW - VOL. 1 FEB 2020 Pacific Dental Services affiliates with 800th dental practice By Mackenzie Garrity I rvine, Calif.-based Pacific Dental Services announced Dec. 31, 2019, that it now supports 800 dental practices throughout the U.S. The latest practice, Lake Barcroft Dental Group, is located in Alexandria, Va. Alex Sharifian, DDS, operates the practice, which offers endodontics, periodontics, pediatric dentistry and orthodontics. "The opening of our 800th supported dental office is an incredible achievement," said Stephen Thorne, CEO and founder of Pacific Dental Services. "Our primary purpose is to support dentists so they can keep their patients healthier and happier. This remarkable accomplishment allows PDS to support even more dental practices throughout the country, so that more patients can get the holistic dentistry they need and want. We're honored that so many owner dentists have trusted us to provide support services to them and their clin- ical practices. " Pacific Dental Services is among the fastest growing dental service organizations in the country, competing with Aspen Dental, Heartland Dental and Smile Brands. n MB2 Dental acquires Arizona DSO: 4 things to know By Mackenzie Garrity C arrollton, Texas-based MB2 Dental announced Dec. 10 , 2019, that it has purchased CORE Dental Partners. Here are four things to know: 1. Located in the Phoenix area, CORE Dental Partners com- prises 17 dental practices, including six pediatric offices, that are operated by 11 dentists. 2. This marks MB2 Dental's largest transaction since being founded in 2007. It also allowed the dental service organiza- tion to expand into Arizona. 3. By the end of 2020, MB2 Dental expects to be affiliated with 79 new dental practices throughout the U.S. 4. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. n Aspen Dental inks deal for larger Chicago office By Gabrielle Masson E ast Syracuse, N.Y.-based Aspen Dental has leased 200,000 square feet in a Chicago building, with plans to expand its workforce and quadruple its office space, Crain's Chicago Business reported. Aspen signed a lease for nearly half of a 19-story office build- ing under construction at 800 W. Fulton Market, developer Thor Equities said in a statement cited by Chicago Business. The new lease is a large expansion compared to Aspen's current 50,000-square-foot Chicago office, opened in 2018. Though Chicago Business could not reach Aspen for com- ment, the dental support organization said in 2018 it would bring roughly 250 jobs to Chicago. The building is slated to open in spring 2021. n Heartland Dental becomes 1st DSO to support 1K practices By Mackenzie Garrity E ffingham, Ill.-based Heartland Dental announced Dec. 10, 2019, that it supports 1,000 practices, making it the first dental service organization to reach this milestone. The newest supported dental practice, Miami Lakes Cos- metics Dentistry, is owned by Johnny Peralta Lee, DMD. This is Heartland Dental's 208th supported practice in Florida. In total, Heartland Dental supports more than 1,600 dentists across 37 states. In 2019, the DSO added around 125 prac- tices to its portfolio of supported offices. "Starting out 22 years ago, Heartland Dental provided ser- vices for a handful of dental practices in one state. Now, reaching this momentous occasion of supporting 1,000 of- fices is a testament to our doctor-focused culture," Heart- land Dental CEO and President Patrick Bauer said. "I believe we'll continue to grow because dentists increasingly value how our services are laser-focused on their needs and dis- tinctly enhance their ability to focus on patient care." n DENTAL SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS
