Starting pay rises for most specialists, including
orthopedic surgeons — 17 statistics

ost specialties saw a year-over-year
increase in average starting salary,
according to Merritt Hawkins'
2019 Review of Physician and Advanced
Practitioner Recruiting Incentives.
Merritt Hawkins compiled the report based
on a sample of more than 3,000 physician and
advanced practitioner recruiting engagements.
Average year-over-year increase/decrease in
starting salary by specialty:
1. Urology: $464,000 (+20 percent)
2. Cardiology (invasive): $648,000 (+9.80
percent)
3. Anesthesiology: $404,000 (+8.90 percent)
4. Emergency medicine: $382,000 (+8.50
percent)
5. Neurology: $317,000 (+5.30 percent)
6. Psychiatry: $273,000 (+5 percent)
7. Radiology: $387,000 (+4.30 percent)
8. Cardiology (noninvasive): $441,000 (+3.30
percent)
9. Gastroenterology: $495,000 (+1.60 percent)
10. Certified registered nurse anesthesiology:
$197,000 (+1.60 percent)

Cleveland Clinic delays plans
for $30M Florida neurosciences
center after finalizing merger —

he Cleveland Clinic pushed back plans to build a $30
million Neuroscience Center of Excellence near Port
St. Lucie, Fla.-based Tradition Hospital, until after it
finalizes its absorption of Martin Health, the TCPalm reports.
What you should know:
1. The Cleveland Clinic plans to construct a three-building
campus in Tradition, a burgeoning community within Port
St. Lucie.
2. However, Cleveland Clinic officials have had to delay
the neuroscience center as the health system incorporates
Stuart, Fla.-based Martin Health into its portfolio. Cleveland
Clinic acquired Martin Health in October 2018.
3. Cleveland Clinic officials said the neuroscience center will
provide stroke, brain, spine surgery and neurology treat-
ments. The health system announced the clinic in August
2018, but has yet to advance past the planning stages of
development.
4. A Port St. Lucie official believes the city and the Cleveland
Clinic will have an agreed upon deal to acquire or lease
land for the clinic to present in front of the City Council for
final sale approval Aug. 19.

Regent Surgical Health,
ConforMIS partner to cut ASC
joint replacement costs

edical technology company ConforMIS has
entered into a partnership focusing on outpa-
tient joint replacements with ASC developer
Regent Surgical Health.
The companies will work together to reduce cost
and improve the outcomes of total joint replacement
procedures. ConforMIS develops and sells customized
implants for joint replacement surgery.
"ConforMIS has transformed joint replacement tech-
nology, which has led to better patient outcomes,"
said Regent Surgical Health CEO Chris Bishop.
"Our collaboration builds on that and allows us to
improve clinical pathways for patients while enhanc-
ing the value proposition for surgeons, employers
and payers."
Regent operates 26 ASCs, 21 hospital joint ventures,
14 total joint replacement centers and three bundled-
payment entities.
"It is clear that payers and providers want to establish
a business and clinical care model that results in better
patient outcomes and enables delivery of total joint
arthroplasty resulting in overall lower cost of care," said
ConforMIS CEO Mark Augusti.
