Humana launched its total joint replacement episode of care model for Humana Medicare Advantage members of HMO and PPO health plans in 2016, and with 11 recent additions, the program includes 75 medical practices in 21 states. e new practices include: 1. e Orthopaedic Group in Mobile, Ala. 2. Florida Orthopaedic Associates in DeLand 3. Florida Sports Orthopaedic & Spine Med- icine in Palm Harbor 4. e Orthopaedic Institute in Gainesville, Fla. 5. Community Physicians of Indiana in In- dianapolis 6. OSMC in Elkhart, Ind. 7. Summit Orthopedics with several loca- tions in Minnesota 8. Twin Cities Orthopedics in Minneapolis 9. e Orthopaedic Center in Tulsa, Okla. 10. Holston Medical Group, with locations in Tennessee, Virginia and North Carolina 11. Orthopaedic Specialists of Austin (Texas) e spinal fusion episode-based model for Humana Medicare Advantage members of HMO and PPO plans was launched earlier this year and recently added Atlanta-based Resurgens Orthopaedics, Baton Rouge (La.) Orthopaedic Clinic, Wilmington, N.C.- based EmergeOrtho and Knoxville-based OrthoTennessee. e program increases payment for physi- cians and clinicians who report improved health outcomes and cost for spine surgery episodes of care, as measured by readmission rates, complications and average risk-adjust- ed episodic cost-of-care. n Cleveland Clinic delays plans for $30M Florida neurosciences center after finalizing merger — 4 insights By Eric Oliver T he Cleveland Clinic pushed back plans to build a $30 million Neuroscience Center of Excellence near Port St. Lucie, Fla.-based Tradition Hospital until after it finalizes its absorption of Martin Health, the TCPalm reported. What you should know: 1. The Cleveland Clinic plans to construct a three-building campus in Tradition, a burgeoning community within Port St. Lucie. 2. However, Cleveland Clinic officials have had to delay the neuroscience center as the health system incorporates Stuart, Fla.-based Martin Health into its portfolio. Cleveland Clinic ac- quired Martin Health in October 2018. 3. Cleveland Clinic officials said the neuroscience center will provide stroke, brain, spine surgery and neurology treatments. The health system announced the clinic in August 2018 but has yet to advance past the planning stages of development.n Orlin & Cohen Orthopedic Group acquires 10-physician orthopedic practice in New York: 4 notes By Laura Dyrda M errick, N.Y.-based Orlin & Cohen Orthope- dic Group acquired Long Island Bone & Joint. Four things to know: 1. Long Island Bone & Joint is an independent prac- tice with offices in Riverhead, Port Jefferson and Southampton, N.Y. The practice is focused on ortho- pedic surgery, computer-assisted knee reconstruc- tion, sports medicine and spine surgery. 2. LIBJ has 10 physicians who will join Orlin & Cohen Orthopedic Group after the acquisition. 3. Orlin & Cohen Orthopedic Group is an affiliate of New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Northwell Health and has 12 offices focused on orthopedics. 4. The financial terms of the acquisition were not dis- closed. "We saw a natural connection with the talented profes- sionals at Long Island Bone & Joint and knew it made sense," said Michael Passet, CEO of Orlin & Cohen. n
